Looking to take next Tuesday off and want to work on the Monday to help the boss out (I’m nice like that) and to soften the blow when I ask for the day off but I want to know if I can as I normally work Tues-Sat. The work pattern will be as follows…
31st July (tomorrow) = 6am till finish, only got 3 local drops so before dinner I’m hoping.
1st/2nd Aug = normal weekly rest
3rd/4th Aug = Holiday to move house, tagged onto weekly rest.
5th-7th Aug = Normal hours, our work always complys with tacho/daily rest regs so no problems here. Probably be done around dinner/early afternoon on the Saturday (7th).
8th Aug - weekly rest.
9th Aug - Hoping to work, probably 5am till 4/5pm would be a normal shift.
10th Aug - off hopefully.
11th Aug onwards, usual hours and back on my standard Tues-Sat contract.
I wont be able to fit in 45 hours from the Sat-Mon so it would be a reduced weekly rest (I’ve never taken one so I have one available), can the Tuesday class as repaying the reduction? and as my 6x24 hour periods begin from 5am Monday, when would I need to start my weekly rest by? I ideally want to begin a new working week (to me Tues-Sat) on a clean sheet with nothing needing to be paid back if possible.
As I’ve found in the past I’m probably over thinking the rules but I don’t want to offer to work the Monday if I can’t legally do it.
Thanks
Mark.
