Can employer dictate when you take breaks?

switchlogic:
Ah yes, the famously over worked council workers

You try making 20 cups of tea per day whilst leaning on a shovel. Tough times :astonished:

I get all breaks in when possible for maximum drive time. I’m salaried and it is always in my interest to either get back to base and home or park up early and relax!

I’d do it if my current boss asked me to because I know if he did he really needed me to and he never has asked anyway,My last firm I wouldn’t no,because they would push you even after you had helped them out

And that there lies the problem your salaried  so your pushed subliminally to working through breaks
I’m hourly paid so I don’t work on breaks

I’m not pushed at all, I get given jobs and it’s up to me how I do them. 2 tips a day usually. If I park up early I’ll go for a walk and have a pint or 2 :sunglasses:

The ā€˜working on breaks’ thing around your day, for your workload and your OWN convenience, and of course tacho is one thing, and maybe ok (well maybe not tecnically legally ) …as long as you take a proper rest break for yourself later on.
Taking it for your boss’ convenience is another thing, and ok only if mutually agreeable (and if your boss aint a ā– ā– ā– ā–  towards you in general, if he is don’t do it.:bulb: )
However, I can never understand the mentality of the ā€˜Superstars’ who work through their breaks every day as a matter of course, …and especially if their firm is taking time off their wage for it. breaks are for YOUR welfare!

Knobheadry of the highest degree on many levels, and these dicks are out there :unamused:

I worked at a place that took an hour a day from you and some planners would ring up after 45 minutes asking why you hadn’t set off :open_mouth: ,the ā€œyesā€ men would then set off as they thought they would get in to trouble.
If you work with a driver you get a lot more out of him in my experience

That’s correct mate. A lot of co.s are too far up their own arses to see that, and continue to treat their drivers like ā– ā– ā– ā– , too thick to realise it is counter productive.
As for the ā€˜Yes men’ :unamused: … it is mainly the fault of those type of tossers that the job is as crap as it is today, and why the rest of us are just expected to bend over.
