Camp Arifjan Kuwait

Has anyone worked out of Camp Arifjan Kuwait or heard of anyone who has?

Hi mate, was that the job vacancies that were advertised about 10 to 12mth ago out there? Just wondered, I applied and had no joy, it was for a 12mth contract initially I think.

Presumably it’s one and the same matt, it’s being advertised again and wondered if anyone could shed any light on what it’s all about. What was your take on it?
Cheers.

in Kuwait…advice needed

do a seach on( jobs in kuwait ) theres loads of info

Hi Gobal, I applied for it mate and got through to the last sort of stages before they picked the guys to go out there but like I said sadly no joy. Griff82 would obviously be the man to ask if he’s been and worked out there? I’d have another crack at it if the feedback off him was positive. Got the impression they were after ex-forces guys or I’m to old at 42 :frowning: dont know to be totally honest. Where is it being advertised again mate?

The job out there is being advertised by Millbrook people millbrook-people.com/hgv-drivers.html but from what i understand they have a full quota but there is no harm in trying.

You could also try M&E Group labourdesk.com/ not sure if they are looking for drivers still rumour has it that millbrook will be sole suppliers!!

Anything else you need to know just ask

matt, thanks for that, griff82 has answered the question in your last post for you.
griff82, from what I understand Millbrook People do have the sole contract and the work seems to be the movement of American militery hardware coming into Kuwait and on to their allocated departments.
Please feel free to elaborate as much as you can on the subject…anyone!
Thanks in advance.

Hi Griff82, so reading some of your posts about the job it was a hell-hole? LGPOO describes it that way. Never thought it would by a picnick like. How long did you stay out there mate and did they not offer to renew contracts, assuming anybody would want too? And ultimately, was it worth while going in the end are you streets in front financially, they have the wages ranging from £950 to £1250 a week.

Would appreciate answers on the open forum please, not just in PM’s.

Maybe with it being militery those who have worked there are not able to say exactly what it’s all about.
Thanks to those who have offered their take.

Griff82, any chance you can answer the couple of questions I’ve asked above please?

Matt from the website as I understood it the wage range is for all trades so to speak and the drivers are on the lower of that price range.
Cheers.

Ok thanks Global, and like you say if anybody has more info on some of the points above it would be greatfully received by those thinking of giving it a go.

Cheers.

Hi Griff82, how’s it hanging dude?

I’ve just had a peek at the advert, “£4,210.00 per week plus flights to and from Kuwait and accommodation (in self-contained 2 bedroom shared apartments)…” I think I’d be tempted back to Kuwait for that kind of money! However, I think it may be a typo and I’m more than happy working for Fly By Nite.

For all of you who are considering going to Kuwait. It’s hot. It’s very, very hot in the summer months. The working conditions are sub-standard and the Americans don’t give a rat’s ■■■ about you. You could be severely injured and they wouldn’t treat you in the base hospital. When I was there, one bloke trapped his fingers in the sliding window aperture of an armoured HUMMV and broke two of them. The base hospital wouldn’t treat him, he had to be taken to the hospital in the city, an hour and a half away (if you’re lucky and there are no accidents on the MSR).

Bob

Interesting insight into the american medical centre lumpygreenpoo, but what does the actual job involve?
Cheers.

Easy Bob how you doin? Having Fun at Fly By Nite?

Hi Global when i was there we where mainly unloading vehicles that where coming down from iraq this was once a day between 1200-1pm. Apart from that most of our time was spent sitting outside under a camo net in 50c heat!!!

Our shifts at this point where 6am-6pm with 3 hours a day commuting from our accomodation in salmiya.

I got moved from Arifjan to the Kuwait Naval Base (KNB) where my shift changed from 3am to 3pm where we loaded a convoy in the morning with vehicles to be shipped off to there final destinations and the rest of our day was spent walking round findind vehicles in the dessert marking them with the shipping labels and jump-starting them and arranging them into lines ready for loading!!

Thanks for that griff!
Each bit of information offered helps to form a picture of what it’s all about. The one thing I do understand is it’s hot!!
Cheers.

The job was also advertised on webrecruit, I applied and 2 days later got told my cv was compared to the other candidates and I was most suited so it has been forwarded to millbrooks.
I looked again today on webrecruit and the vacancy is gone :frowning: I hoped to be in with a chance as I am ex army driver who served in kuwait.
