Hi all im new to trucknet just wondering if anyone knows how much the swiss tax is on a euro 3, 6 axle lorry transiting from Basel to Chiasso and approx customs cost, obviously im after present day figures lol. Also heard a rumor the weight limit is under 40 ton any truth in that. Reason im asking is may entertain the idea of doing runs down to milan and heard this is cheapest route, taking into consideration lux diesel if not please advise thanks

Weight limit is 40 tonne

Here are the forms from CH and the current costs. Don’t forget it is worked on tonne/km.

There are other routes available :stuck_out_tongue:

Go to the Euro Drivers Info Point, look down the list in the first post, find the link for Switzerland.
You can find all the info about tolls, routes, height, weight etc for Switzerland there.
This is info from the Swiss roads authority, so it is correct.

Cue Brit Pete + Stickies + routes via Lux + and that bloody train!!!

lets put it this way , you will save wear tear
and time by using the train plus the driver
has a clean card to use when they get into
Novera (I) ,If one goes through swiss you
have the road charge, waiting time doing
paperwork at borders, Waiting time to get
through the tunnel at Götthard, and also
possible traffic jams and waiting whilst
transiting swiss, plus you will need to have
the required equipment for winter
Or you go via Blanc or Frejus tunnel
these are better options the going through
swiss,

And as if by magic!!!

Pete…you forgot to tell him to “READ THE STICKIES”!!!

@bullit no need to as Simon had all ready posted that thanks

Nothing about going through Luxembourg either.

just had a look at the fuel prices for dec 2009
they posted that as up to 15th dec the prices where as follows

Belgian 89.61p before tax
France 101.54p
Luxembourg 77.32
Italy 104.84p

at present it looks like Belgian is the cheapest after you
take their tax off,

Be careful about your height, the Swiss are dead keen on that.

just to be clear that is the trailer height

Cheers fellas great help, all within 24 hours aswell very efficent lol
Il have to investigate further in new year perhaps this train way, remove some of those deadly hidden costs

you need to be aware that the offical trailer height
is 4.00m and the train does not take any thing over
this height as for Switzerland if caught over height
weight etc you pay fines this goes also for all over
europe,YES people shout they have had no problems
how ever they do catch people and they do act

its winter time it was -27in Italy this week and
France has had its problems as well, also Spain there
was problems winter ytres and carry snow chains
even if you do not use them certain country will
fine you and make you buy chains and tyres if they
feel the need is there for such equipment,

YES read the stickys all of them more than once
any more questions ask away, some one will put
up a answer
