Just out of interest, which ferry do you use when crossing from Rumania to Bulgaria, Calafat or Bechet? I’ve always used Bechet in the past, but the camber can be brutal even for a straight, running on super-singles with the suspension raised, the rear under-run usually scrapes the concrete on the quay. I’ve heard that the ferry at Calafat is a lot better for step frames and the like, but like I say I’ve never had to use it so wouldn’t know. Bechet always seemed the most direct route to Sofia to me (add to that the fact that the duty free was cheap as chips, 3 euro 50 for 200 B+H in 2004).
always bechet and I always lower the suspension on the truck as opposed to raising the trailer, thus having 0 problems with scraping so far. the bar at oryahovo is also the perfect place to end the day 
the duty free is about the same price as a regular shop now, all in the same EU now.
neither were great for getting on an off, we used to have mega tilts and had to steer clear of both 
i’m sure one of our lads said there was a bridge now open at calafat, but t’internet seems to say it’ll be 2010, maybe i wasn’t listening to his traveller’s tales properly

One of the Police officers at Oryakhovo used to taker great delight every time I was there in showing me his 44 magnum, (my surname is Smith) bless him he thought it was hilarious, he always got annoyed at the custom guys for being on the take. I used to then drive to the old soviet airfield and park up at one of the last places on the right.
