I would say for best grub ive had wen 28yrs in the days of driving, was Silver Link cafe,Kincardine Bridge,Now Gone!!B/fast>4 sausages,2 eggs,beans,2 toast, help yrself to tea,I always used to stop there wen finished loading paper at Tullis Russell paper Mills,Markinch,Fife. Sadley the Mill is shut.My friend Ken Sims,Who drove for Harris & Miners of Devon, lived in Kings Kettle,Fife. ken worked out of Tullis Russell paper Mill all the time…Norman Croad,Torquay,Devon.

I see the old Silver link that was a shop until recently is empty again.
It could be a good venture for somebody.
Can you still park there where the old filling stn was up from the cafe, there is a pub a couple of hundred yards up. Used to park there up to about 6 yrs ago, but the road outlay has changed with the new bridge.

Georges down in Silvertown, Londinium. I used to load at International Paints down the road and always used to eat there.

Who remembers the BP @ Immingham?? I went in there about 25 years ago and swore never to step foot in it again. However, several years ago it reopened as Ulceby Truck Stop … now for the life of me, I can’t understand how this place has never been nominated for Truckstop of the Year!!! In my opinion, it’s the best in the country. Concrete hardstanding that is laid and angled so there are never any puddles!! Food is excellent and always too much for me to eat.

Georges shut up shop in late 1990’s or early 2000’s if memory serves me right.
Probably poncy flats like everything else around there now !

My old dad used to take me into Mays Café on the A12 @ Mountnessing,
I remember the big hole in the middle of the car park where all the trailer wheels used to scrub around,

Do you remember the old bloke behind the counter who used to lick his fingers before taking a slice of bread out of the wrapper? Just like he was going to separate sheets of paper. Once I’d seen that,I never had toast in there again.

I used georges in the 80s when I loaded sugar out of silvertown, sometimes overnighted but parking was small and you had to be early.Excellent café,great food, good crack.Better than s/town motel.
