Caen Parking

I just got a letter in my wages about Brittany Ferries in Caen.

What has happened to the parking on the port? It seems as though you are only allowed to park in the Truck Centre at Mondeville now.

I have an official looking letter from the Prefecture du Calvados banning trucks from parking in the port from 01/02/08

i did hear a rumour that they are extending the port area cause they are so busy with un-accompanied as well as accompanied frieght and they are gonna build more parking places , how true that is !!! no idea

Malc,

I picked-up a letter at the terminal last month and as I read it, you can still park in the port - as I did the other night - but due to some EU security regulation they are not allowing you to weekend at the port. They have agreed dispensation with the Flic to allow you to drive to the Centre Routier if you need to do so when driving bans are in-place.

Paul

Cue trucks parked on the side of the road by the supermarket , in lay bys filling them up so no one else can use them etc etc
Short sighted sods, getting as bad as our lot.
Is the centre routier in caen open weekends■■?

No the center routier is not open on the weekends plus at the weekend it is 80% full of local French trucks thats why these places have been built in a lot of towns to get the local trucks in the same place instead of all over the place.
Last Sunday when i arrived in Ouistreham every layby and park place was full and it was imposible to get in to the as24 at the center routier for parked trucks, mainly eastern block ones.
Brittany ferries probly got sick of the litter and piles of s…t all over the lorry park.
