I just thought I’d post the change in EU rules that I’ve just remembered from my dCPC last week that will become relevant with this whole EU hokey cokey debate and that was the new updated rules that will see the amount of jobs will rise from its current 3 to 7 in March.
If your DCPC trainer told you this, then he’s the first person I’ve heard of who has received this information. Certainly VOSA haven’t advised operators of this change in their monthly newsletter. I’ve never heard of it until now.
These trainers are full of more BS than an RDC waiting room full of Tesco day men on their fourth return trip that day from Islamabad.
I’ve just done a quick Google on the subject and found nothing, and I thought Google knew everything.

If it’s true then someone can perhaps flesh out the details on TruckNet and the information will forever appear at the top of the first Google page for everyone else to learn from.
Until then I reserve the right to treat this as “DCPC trainer ■■■■■■■■”.
Can anyone give a quick overview of what this post is about? What jobs are up from 3 to 7? Is this an O/O thing? I know I should just skip the topic if I don"t understand it, but then how will I learn?

Hi Kerbdog,
Where did you hear this, cos it’s a new one on me?
its probably flatulance…

I think that’s the most likely explanation

It’s to do with “Cabotage”, which is when a truck registered in one country carries out a movement entirely within the borders of another country, for example me (registered in the UK) taking a load from Paris to Lyon, or Munich to Stuttgart, or a Lithuanian taking a load from London to Manchester.
There’s currently a limit of three consecutive internal movements which a vehicle can carry out before it needs to leave that country to comply with cabotage rules. The OP is saying that this might be changed to seven.
Definitely not a stupid question, it’s not something which would affect the average employed driver but don’t ever be afraid to ask, not all of us bite!

If the DCPC gets diluted any more, you can expect to spend an afternoon being told what colour chalk VOSA put round your wheels at differing RDCs.
The department of transport are talking about allowing the rules to be relaxed for car transporters around peak times.
Peharps he’s getting confused with that.

Thanks for that - very clear explanation
I can’t find nothing on this either on the net. The guy seemed to be clued up on it all, he said it had only just been voted on within the EU. I will find out tomorrow for more clearer information.

What do you mean by that Saaamon? Don’t do transporters so it won’t affect me. Just curious really.

Just means that car transporters would be allowed to do more internal movements to help when new registrations come out, it would only be temp and only for transporters but its still to be decided as far as i know. I dont do transporters either.

It could be, I found this but can’t find anything that says when or if it’s starting.

Ah I see. I misunderstood at first and assumed there was some tacho rule changes coming in for UK based transporters. Didn’t even think about the foreign ones tbh.
Here’s the .gov page covering it and it doesn’t appear to have been agreed yet so the DCPC trainer most probably was talking a load of [zb]
