Cab red night light

Merc daf scania. I miss the red night light when driving at night and wondered has it been banned from cabs.

The units I drive never have them. It’s not the same with the white courtesy light on.

They have them in new Iveco’s.

New Volvo have them, and it works on a dimmer as well.

My Merc has a little green light over the passenger side, sure its one of the things they forgot to move over when making RHD versions. Its not even bright enough to pour my tea.

All ours have them both sides. Maybe the bulb has blown?

DAF also still has it ,fitted at the rear of the sunroof ,not very big though

They cost around £7 for that silly little light :open_mouth:

Maybe they weren’t specified in the trucks you drive?
We have 2 Volvo’s one has red lights the other doesn’t.

OMG, thanks for that I will check and get one (company will provide I’m sure)…Every days a learning day.

I have a 64 plate DAF and it has one

Yes ours are both sides also.

The merc acros I used last year had the green lights both sides, mood lighting the delivery guy called it, pish poor I called it. The current steed, a MAN, has the red lights, dim ones on at all times & brighter red for coffee making.

My 63 plate Daf SSC has 2 in the roof, 2 above the main front locker, 1 in each door and 1 in the centre consul, all as standard from the factory.

Cheers, I reckon i’m onto a winner with a quick fix for this poor lighting situation. Can’t believe i’ve been driving around for 3 months without any kind of light bulb moment (pardon the pun)realisation that the fault maybe just a bulb issue, looking forward to less spilt tea already.

What are them little red lights for? Guessing they are to prevent you losing your “night vision” as such? But why do you drive with them on?

I used to find they eased the glare when night driving.

regards dave.

Two seperate interior light switches in a Actros.
1 main one then there is 1 for map reading, replace with red bulbs in the map reading one’s the other switch is on the passenger side door.
Thats what i did!!! :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

If you’re talking about an Axor, you must have a bulb out as there is one each side of the cab.
I prefer the new Actros which has the two gren lights, but also an array of blue mood lights.
