Hi, I just got a job on artics full time and was doing roughly 60 hours
A week. I realised I was getting roughly paid 6-7 per hour is this normal or just a north wales
Thing.
It was my first full time job and was get shouted at for not being back on time
So to get back on time id have to run bent so I kindly told them to
Stick their job
What rate did you agree to do the job for?
This applies to anywhere in the world.
I saw the thread title and the wage so thought thats not bad for a 7.5 tonner (C1) but then I read its ARTIC and I presume you meant the old HGV Class 1
I agreed 440 a week based on 40 hours but was doing
60 and not getting paid over time as it was supposed to be in contract.
So what is the average wage I should be looking for
I only passed c e last july

If north wales is like norfolk then that may not be a million miles away from average, on the low side of average maybe but not by much.
As for shouting at you coz you’re to slow, well what do they expect. that concerned me more. paying low wages is one thing you can allways move on once you have some experience, but if you get nicked for running bent then thats going to hamper your future job hunting for a while anyway, as a reputable haulier paying better wages is going think why risk o licence on a cowboy when there another guy with a clean sheet
This makes me so angry, why not give a new guy a bit of a chance the boss man should bit more forgiving & helpful after all this guy could become a very good driver with the right help, small minded employers are the bane of our industry if the boss man or TM is on here why not comment pls
As eddie said thats about the going rate around this part of the country (east anglia).
As for the whole having a go at you thing well i think thats what you have to put up with at first when your climbing the ladder, i put up with all the ■■■■■■■■ of being constantly pushed to go faster, going over your time etc swearing and agruments when your late, you’ll find that because your new to the job the office will assume you dont know the rules and take advantage of that. Personally i’d say put up with it whilst your gaining experience.
