Starting my 2 & a half day one-to-one intensive training with East Coast Driver Training in Norwich tomorrow morning. Bit nervous as I have’nt even been in a 7.5 tonner since November and as I gave up caffiene just before Christmas I can’t even rely on coffee to get me through the day! However, been watching Youtube videos (including the official DVSA LGV ones) on LGV matters so feel well prepared but I’m sure that that the reality of training will be a bit of a shock!
Wish me luck (and probably avoid the roads around Norwich for the next 3 days )
Lets us know how you feel about lunchtime because every time I had trainees who tried to do it that way got knackered by about 1 pm and the rest of the day was virtually a waste of time
Perhaps you can keep up that level of concentration for 8 hours …
Good luck mate, did mine over three and a half days but only 4.5 - 5 hours each day. It does get a bit tiring so make sure you mix it up a bit. You’ve been driving 7.5 tonners so you’ve got that added experience, you’ll be fine.
Last time I drove a 7.5 tonner was when I moved house from the Isle of Skye to Norfolk. That was 2 days of serious concentration (as well as worrying about the missus in the car behind) - sure I felt knackered by the end of it (and then had to unload the furniture the next day then drop of the lorry back in Inverness) but the adreneline keeps you on your toes (esp going down the A1 & A17). So yes, a little nervous but that’s more because I have a touch of social anxiety and need to push myself into new situations. Baring that & my age (56 young), I’m looking forward to it…
keep an eye out for me then, I started my CE today with NTS in Norwich, I saw a couple of east coast trucks today.
I found the 8 hours flew by and didn’t want to stop!!!
I do drive for 11 hours a day, 5-6 days a week though(taxi) so probably used to it.
good luck and enjoy it, probably see you tomorrow lol.

Yep - and getting greyer as the day went on
p.s. worst part of the day? Getting back into my Citreon Berlingo, thinking how blooming small it was & nearly re-ending someone at the first roundabout cause the controls WERE’NT offset like the DAF
