So I started this thread, Downtown haulage when advertising these rates,should be only used as a novice driver,or as a filler untill you find something elseβ¦I Know they have to compete with the unmentionable 5.But once again its the race to the bottom, at our expense

What do you expect them to do, raise the pay rates for drivers and lose money?
The ONLY way pay rates for drivers will rise, is when driver demand outstrips supplyβ¦
This is a headache the industry bosses donβt want, as they would then have to start thinking about attracting people to the industry, training them, etcβ¦ Itβs far easier for them to use scare tactics that the industry will grind to a halt, economic productivity will affected and little Tarquin wonβt get his nappies & baby foodβ¦
Itβs an observation, but when Downton comes up with what is come this April is the minimum wage,someone in Tilbury or at there HQ. is taking the F- P- .
For 60hrs on downturns they will take around 450 as the rate there is either 9.45 ex C&H or 9.50 Downton contract or was when I left

How you getting on at downton eagerbeaver. Where you based. I done a stint with them in Liverpool last year.

Itβs going well thanks Viking, they seem a good set-up. I am running out of the Runcorn (Preston Brook ) depot.
