C+e vehicle.rental

Does anybody know any rental companies that will let an individual rent an artic for a dsy? The only.ones Ive found will only hire them.to companies?
Thanks!

why don’t you approach some smaller firms and ask about going out with one of their drivers for a few days?

some people will say you should never offer to work for free and it sets a precedent etc, but that’s ■■■■■■■■.

I think rental companies have strict rules regarding O licences and CPCs etc but not certain of that

Why do you want to hire one ?

What the objection is to is working for free on your own and taking paid work from another driver

Going out with another driver for free as an extra seems fine with everyone

Hire companies won’t hire you one privately as I think they are legally bound not to unless you hold a national or international cpc and probably your own insurance.

One of the guys at my work said he will take me.out for.the day to show me the ropes if i.could hire one. I might ask my boss if he can hire one for me instead.

AS said - if you really want to get shown then go out with another driver for the day and try to get the vehicle owner to give you permission to drive it

why spend any money when you shouldn’t need too?

what trucks do they have where you work now? if there’s no chance of driving where you currently work or they don’t run artics, then start knocking on doors and getting a foot in, there is always that chance of being in the right place at the right time and make sure you leave them with your number!!

I’ve never hired an artic so I could be talking total rubbish, but by the time you’ve hired a truck and paid for insurance I would have thought it would be cheaper to go to a training school for a day.

Or as already suggested, see if you can go out with another driver for a day.

i’m not unaware of what the objection is   but like i said, i think it’s ■■■■■■■■ !!

It’d definitely be cheaper and easier to go with a driving school for a few days

I didn’t read anywhere that the op was looking for training. Perhaps he’s been offered a quick cash job that requires an artic. Or perhaps I’m talking bollox again.

I think a few days is pushing it.

I had 4 hours in an Artic after passing in WnD and felt confident I could go out alone.

At 200 quid for 4 hours, you wouldn’t really want to be doing more than that.

To get a real insight, get an OD or someone already doing the job to take you out.

read his other posts!!

A lad who had only just passed his class one approached my boss and offered to work for free for a week, A to get some experience and B to get his foot in the door.

The boss was impressed and at the end of the week offered him a full time job, he’s still their now.

FTFY

I don’t mind picking the OP up at Fleet services or somewhere and taking him out for the day on my rounds, then dropping him off at a train station somewhere late afternoon so he can get home if he feels that would help.
