So I’ve just got my Cat C and if I can fund it, I’d like to get my C+E. however Chevron, where I did my C use wagon and drag. Is there any disadvantage to this, or are the skills easily transferable to tractor and trailer?
I was happy with Chevron so it’d be great to just to use them, all the people working there are friendly and there were plenty of brews!

This always turns into quite a debate.
When I took CE I went WnD and did 4 hours in an Artic once I’d passed.
My opinion is that CE is easier passed in WnD and then skills transferred to Artic without the pressure of a test.
You have a good school there respected by many on here and they should be able to get you through with WnD.
Best of luck
No brainer. Stay with Chevron.
Pete
I passed myself in a wagon and drag, all depends really disadvantage is you don’t get used to using your 5th wheel etc, I’d been shunting for 2 years so all that was second nature to me, if you do pass in a wag and drag most companies know someone who will let you go out in a unit for a few hours to get used to it, that’s the best way to do it if your gona learn in wag an drag

That’s what I said
Cool sounds like wagon and drag with Chevron it is. And hopefully I’ll have the same trainer Gyln as he was great!

I’m sure if you request him as a trainer, your wish will be granted. After all its your money
Plus it should be easier as you’re driving the same truck. That’s what I would do and then as said before just book a few hours in an artic.
Stick to your current trainer. That’s all you want is the C+E category.
Well done on the pass by the way.

That’s it. In a nutshell. Find the easiest way to get the category on your licence. Once it’s there then use whatever resources you can to transfer skills.
You may find your first job is in a WnD and no skill transfer is needed.

To the OP - this answer in your case

I won’t be driving the same truck. I took my test in their MAN truck but the wagon and drag hooks up to their DAF CF. but that doesn’t bother me once on the job I’ll be having to drive different trucks here and there.
