You have had the normal training blip where often you can ‘forget how to drive’ but do not be concerned because after a goods night kip all will become right the next day
Long time age, my trainer said…
Don’t be a C***
Take the shunt.
They will not fail you for shunting forwards ONCE

ROG not gonna argue
ive seen a guy pass with 3 shunts at atherstone, examiner told him he liked the fact that he seen what was going wrong and corrected it quickly without making to much of a meal of it
Ive seen 3 shunts today. All in audis.
Hang on…sorry about that, mixed up a couple of letters.
Good luck tomorrow mate.
Key thing is don’t panic !! , when I took my test I over cooked the initial move I ended up with the steer axle and the drive axle a centre meter off the line and the trailer heading towards the opposite line ,
at this point I panicked thinking I’d made a compete ■■■■ out of myself so I stopped , screwed it back towards the start cones , I didn’t quite get it as I wanted but when I got under the trailer it was perfectly in line for the first cone !!! , and then it was just a case of reversing into the box
So don’t panic , if it isn’t going 100% to plan take the shunt , take 2 you CAN do it

Its a doddle, If I can do it, anyone can…
Best of luck buddy! I’m sure it will be fine.
Time for plan B. You need to pay some bit of skirt to walk past and chat to the examiner then whilst he’s distracted just rearrange the cones around the truck, job done.
Good luck for tomorrow. I’m finding reverse very difficult. Just don’t understand how to get straight after a bend. I can reverse straight back no problem. Any hints n tips would be appreciated.

Basically, as soon as the trailer looks like it’s starting to fall where you want it, start bringing the cab back around. Soon as it looks like you might have overcooked it, stop straight away and shunt to straighten up. It’s just judgement that comes with practise. Key is not to steer too much when you are bending it, so you don’t leave yourself with too much to do with the trailer bending too quickly… put a bit of lock on to start with, wait for the trailer to react then make further adjustments. That way you stay in control.
When I passed my C+E I cheated the reversing exercise
On the wag and drag she had all these little paint marks up on it
When you see the yellow paint line in your mirrow you move your wheel 1/4 turn clockwise
When you see the little while line you strighten up and go stright back
So I wrote this on the back on my arm (not my hand) so it was hidden up my sleave from the examiner
Best thing is if you want to learn to reverse; if its about the money that is
Go find a scrap yard with running unit and trailer and offer them 50 quid to practace in corner of there yard for the day
Do you want me to tell you how I cheated my cat C test
And passed my cat C in a mercedes sprinter

Thanks!
Failed on pulling out on a rounder bout makong a car slow down in my openion there was plenty of room and anyone would of pulled out there trying to get a clear patch big enough in birmingham is hard, apart from that two minora one on reverse one on the road

Real life V test life
Next time …
Maybe it’s just me but the reverse on the test years ago was from one box to another. It did not involve any skill, it was just practicing the same manouvre. It was just learning how to “blind side” out of the “start” box and get it into the “finish” box without hitting the flag in a cone in the middle. Nothing to do with traffic/ pedestrians etc just box to box and stop before going over the line.
After you did that you passed your test and went on to learn.
PS. 8 out of 10 is not good enough if one of the missed 2 is on your test.
Or
I dont know if the DSA still do them but you can get a list with all the test routes on
Thats how I cheeted my C+E
spent 3 days driving round all the test routes in my van

Test routes are no longer published but some old info is out there if you can find it
They stopped doing it because it is reasonable to expect a driver to drive anywhere if they are competent
