C+E test on Friday

Hello all. Thought id make an intro post as ive been lurking here for a bit. Passed my Class C last year and have been doing multi drop for the past six months and want to move onto Artics. Start my training with Ken Irwin on monday with test on Friday morning. I dont imagine ill find it easy getting work as im not wanting to do “trips” as ive a 6 month old at home and weve just bought a new house. Anyone recommend anywhere in Lurgan/Craigavon/Portadown area to ask about for day work?

Best of luck on your VAN upgrade pal!

As for getting a start on C+E without tramping. As you’ve Class 2 experience, have you considered doing pallet work for a little while? You’ll get a start tomorrow on the rigids, and once your foot is in the door and you’re proven yourself, you’ll probably get a chance to step up…

Im doing Pallet work at the minute mate on a 12t Rigid (Half loaded with pallets and half with Boxes). Have thought about agency work but id probably be mad to leave full time employment to do that.

Why? that’s how I got the step up and I’ve only ever been a limper…
But you could just change pallet firms to where they possibly have more artics, and maybe do artic day runs as well as night trunks, and thus probably more of a need for relief class 1 drivers.

This, when I upgraded to CE my boss gave me whatever he could and with 8 day runs and 10 night trunks between 2 depots I was always on artic. I’m now permanent nights running trunk 4 of depot 2  and very happy with it  best of luck

Congrats mate, and don’t let a chance slip by to get class 1 experience!
Just stay legal and appreciate your limitations by leaving nothing to chance.
Never assume you’re clear when maneuvering and blind to save a few seconds, get off your arse and look!
You now have to consider the corners of a unit and a trailer…

The rest you pick up as you go along…

Nice one well done bud congrats
