Start training on the artics tomorrow at PB Driver Training Bristol. Looking forward to it
All the best - diary always welcomed.
Any questions, ask your trainer first. If not clear, fire away on here.

Thanks Peter…I certainly will
Ok…just before bed I will write a quick summary
Really good day today, although a little long.
I started the day with CPC Mod 4, and I discovered just how much trainers and examiners dislike this attack on British Sovereignty, but I digress. 100% mark for the Mod 4 (this mark was also ascertained by my unprepared test colleague). It really is so straightforward, and if you have any concerns just watch the demonstration video on Youtube provided by EP Training. That will sort it out for you. Don’t worry yourselves about what a dolly knot is, you are very unlikely to be asked. Your instructor is going to know if there is an examiner who will ask you for it and so will instruct you accordingly.
Onto the class 1 then. My instructor took me on a short drive to explain the differences and things to watch out for compared to the Class 2 rigids. This I generally took on board, but I had a horrid time answering his questions about general observation. What is the speed limit? Can I use this lane? etc. I didn’t know. I seem to switch off when a passenger! Fortunately my observation improved when I took over, but only a little bit . It took me the day to realise just how much longer these vehicles are, and how often you need to consider splitting lanes down. I was getting better as the day progressed, but still needed the occasional reminder. Hopefully tomorrow that will change. The good techniques I was taught on Class 2, however, transferred easily onto the artic. Generally the cab environment and controls are the same which is helpful and useful. I was a little worried about gears and using the splitter. But it’s actually ok
I’m tired now, so I’ll leave it there. If any newb wants to ask a question from a fellow newb please do so. I’ll write a little more tomorrow.
Basically a really good and fun day. Tomorrow is the reveres and coupling exercises. I’ll report back later as to how that goes 4
Wish me luck
Sounds as if it’s going to plan. All the best with the rest of it.
Just to clarify the comment about dolly knots. It’s nothing to do with examiners. If you are asked how you would secure palletised paper then choose the strap. The alternative is the rope. But if you mention the rope then you will be asked to use it. So, simples, don’t mention the rope!
