I know what you mean, as well as the artic I will still be going out in the good old ERF but now with a trailer, be interesting to see if some of the elite flash me in or not!
YOU are now one of the elite. I will flash you.
Oh [zb]…how do you edit…erm…
Well done

Got to get past them first! ERF?? Maybe!

For an 18 tonner she has loads of guts and is rarely at full weight. 385 â– â– â– â– â– â– â–
Last week I used the ERF with trailer so utilising my new licence category for the first time. No problems - was very long but the trailer follows a treat.
After getting back tonight I was informed I have a run with the artic tomorrow so went out for an unladen run first. It’s an old XF95 Daf with a King step frame low loader. Jumped in, fired it up, put a card in and familiarised myself with the controls. Nothing taxing or complicated. Shunt out, circuit of the industrial estate then a circuit down A47-A43-A1-A606 and through a couple of villages… nothing ventured and all that!! Went OK and didn’t hit any kerbs, OAPs, kids, lamp posts etc. Missed a gear a couple of times - mix of my ineptitude and a dodgy shift as the unit is getting on a bit bless it. I really missed the jake brake as i use it all the time in the rigid, the exhaust brake on the Daf seems pants, perhaps I didn’t have enough revs on?? And having to clutch to use the splitter is a bit of a pain. Apart from that I loved it, looking forward to tomorrow with nervous excitement.
All the best with it. And yes, the 385 â– â– â– â– â– â– â– is a grunty thing so wont be bad at all.
