I used to be good friends with a couple of Showmans families, Emersons of Barrow (bought out by Taylors IIRC) and Scotts of Rhyl who were the same family as Scotts of Barrow run by Elizabeth (a right Draggon).However, my Pal young Ernest Emmerson was once in our garage at Milnthorpe and there was an Atki Borderer we had just repainted and it was stood un-lettered so Ernest says “I’ll letter it for you” although he couldn’t read or write (but could count coins faster than a machine!) I set out on paper what I wanted and he did a great job !! Scotts of Rhyl’s Waltzer was managed on the road by a chap called James Jeffries who was a member of another old Fairground family,we used to service the Scotts two 8 wheelers for a number of years when they were pitched in Milnthorpe, always paid in “2 bobs”(no bills) the first time of which he stuck an extra £5 worth in to try us out, when I took it back to his living van he just winked and said give it your Lads in the workshop !

Hello Dai , good to see that he is still in busness . I can remember his Scanias and Volvos doing Aluminium out of Anglesey , most of it going down to S Wales , and also he hauled coal from their as well from a mine , i think near Ammanford or Hirwaen , Cawleys do that now . thank you Trevor .

Another marvellous picture of one of Ieuan’s lorries. Today I was reminded by an old mate that in the mid 90’s Ieuan sold out to L.E Jones and that most of the wagons( including the F12 and a very fresh at the time FL10 8 wheeler) were repainted in L.E’s colours. I think Ieuan started back up about 10 years ago.
