Hello Trevor,
In that Footman image , i was actually camping in the field opposite , and so gave a elavated view .
This was shot on the A44 Llangurig . cc

Folk complain now about driving a truck without air con or with a manual gearbox. Imagine lugging that beast around

Maybe take away that car in the back ground … , and we have a shot that transports us back to the 60s … Geraint .

Hi Kingswinford Kit, yes definitely a George Read motor, bought new in the 50’s in a batch of consecutive reg nos. They were overhauled by young George (George M Read ) when he worked in his father’s garage. The sister to it PDF 605 was stolen from Tooley Street in London on it’s first trip after overhaul. All that remained of it was a small pile of broken glass which was a result of gaining entry .It was never seen again. This story was related to me in 1976 by Young George.

Hi Laurie, thanks for that , i wasnt quite sure it was a George Read Octopus , as Edwards at Lydbrook as well Smiths of Bicknor had a few also , but had a good feeling it was from the Forest !! . Thanks again for the info . regards Keith .

Nice pic again cc. I’m not a fan of green vehicles, but have to say that certain fleets such as Danny Williams are smart.
Cheers Dave.

Must have been in the 1980’s cc. I can rember going to Llanidloes regularly in the late 1960’s across the narrow road that was a shortcut to cut out Llangurig. There was a lot of bypasses built in Powys in the 70’s and 80’s, but not many since. Cutbacks I suppose.
Cheers Dave.
