That F12 could possibly have been a CV show exhibit …given the silver colour scheme …
Yes i agree not enough from the West …Geraint .

That is a classic pic cc. That would be a good picture for Alan Spillett to do a painting of. Great catch.
Cheers Dave.

Yes ROF , by the way that load has been sheeted , could well be the early Pembrokes in late March after the Jerseys .
M J Williams from Merlins bridge , and Charles Footman would participate on this work , would see many a load bound for the markets in Glasgow and Manchester . regards Keith

Near Newbridge on Wye , . Dave , Hello , that was taken on the road that by-passes Builth Wells .

B4358 CC a very popular shortcut from the A470 at Newbridge on Wye through to the A483 at Beaulah cutting out Builth Wells. When I was driving for C W Griffiths in the late 60’s the then Brecon County Council did a lot of widening along that road, either side of Llanafan Fawr. It was a hard old punch up from the quarries this way with an under powered Bedford TK with 10 ton of stone on.
Cheers Dave.

And backloaded with straw, in the case of Footmans.
That Footmans F10 loaded nicely from European profiles at Llandybie maybe that explains its presence on that road … Can we expect the West Wales theme to continue …? nice one kid …Geraint .

Sorry, as usual, boring old ■■■■■■■■ going off thread.
Potatoes. Loaded 20 tons from south of Edinburgh. (Pentland?) circa January, 1972.
A large, Nissen hut type warehouse. All handball as usual, 40’ van, ‘we’ll put them on the trailer, driver’
Oh, thanks! Shagged out from carrying 400 bags of potatoes without help.
Took them down to Lincolnshire. Oh innocence!
Questions about the warehouse answered honestly. ‘Yeah, Nissen huts’
‘How cold was it?’ - freezing, you know what Scotland’s like!
Load rejected - frost damage.
Realised the importance of the expression, ‘The driver said’
The driver never said anything again!

Tell me about it! One of the tricks the market wholesalers employed when faced with a load of produce and a likely-looking young driver was to ask to see a “sample”. The unsuspecting driver would undo the ropes and sheets from the rear end of the load and hand down a bag or box to the wholesaler’s man. After waiting maybe half an hour the young driver would go into the store and ask what was happening. It finally dawned on him that the box/bag had been half-inched by one of the porters and flogged off on the opposite side of the market. Never let any part of a load out of my sight after the bllcking I got for that one!

Footmans hauled out of the CWS dairy down at Llangadog ( dont know if it is still operating ) , which produced tinned products etc . Dave , Williams Bros at Peterchurch did a lot of that work as well . regards Keith.
