Paul John:
Hi Dave, that’s a good photo. That fertilised grass is as green as could be. All of the flock of sheep there has their head down grazing.
Regards Paul.
If Ivor’s grass doesn’t look green Paul, nobody else will have green grass,as he’s a fertilizer merchant.
Cheers Dave.
Hi Dave, yes I realize he does all the lime spreading etc around your way. Its a good advert for sure.
Back a good few years ago I remember a couple of boys from Brecon driving Zeta and Deutz tractors to Rhymney Heads of the valley to spread lime at my Grandfathers place. It was only 45 acres but took a few loads brought by Stephens and Chanmbers 8 wheel Atki.
The sound of those super big tractors back then was tremendous as they hammered around the fields.
Cheers Paul.

Hi Paul John , Stephen and chambers , thats a blast from the past ! They did lime and also slag spreading , which had been hauled down from Corby . They also delivered lime to Llanwern steelworks on a regular basis , as well as the Atkis , they had a Guy Warrier 6 wheel tipper and a few Dodges , if i can remember they were based in Warren road Brecon . regards Keith .

I don’t want to hijack cc’s thread, but I used to see Stephens & Chambers tippers loading bulk slag regularly out of Margam steel works when I was driving for Clarence Griffiths, they were a nice bunch of blokes.
Cheers Dave.

Cheers Dave.

Hello Dave,
Whilst holidaying in the area , i got to know a Sharples driver , i think named Des , his wife was a Londoner from the East End , he drove a Foden that apparently was ex Lloyds of Ludlow , and i actually accompanied him on a run to Port Talbot steelworks when in my early teens .
As i remember he would collect pallets from the works and make rabbit pens with them . Does this character sound familiar ? cc .

Sounds like Des Jarrrett to me cc. A big bloke, he drove for Sharples for many years, as did a lot of drivers. Sadly Des is no longer with us, but his Son Les drove tippers for many years, and eventually ran his own lorry, but he has packed it in and now runs a taxi business near Kington.
I think Des live at Kinnersley.
Cheers Dave.
