I’d still chuck a mix up it though tbf

I think she went over to try and sell the records we wouldnt buy, a captive audience you might say…well she aint speaking for my country, only for herself…and all those do gooders are increasing the problems, and causing more and more to arrive…wheres all the snow and low temperatures we are supposed to be getting, ?

Jumped up hypocritical champagne socialite slag, my heart is pumping purple ■■■■, and sympathy in the dictionary sits in between ■■■■ and syphilis.

I’ll keep my fingers crossed that other cockwomble Brand keeps his promise and leaves like he said before Brexit.

That Geldoff money song. Those lyrics

“And there won’t be snow in Africa”

If you’re half starved surely that’s the last thing they’d need. A good belt of snow would finish them off. Hungry then frozen stiff like ice lollies.

my sister recently went on a hen party to africa, and said she got 12 inches of snow there… :open_mouth:

Don’t hear any songs about this.A bit like him and bleedin Bono not saying a word about the Irish potato famine while Ireland was exporting beef. :unamused:

Mount Kilimanjaro is in Africa, I’m pretty sure there’s snow up there - not just at Christmas time either.
Sting and Scruffy Bob didn’t really think it through, did they?

No they’re a bit thick. An the line “and do they know it’s Christmas time”. If you’re starving to death, doubt you give a toss about fir trees in buckets and baubles in Europe.

Love a bit of star stories

Completely agree with her, although it should be down to our prime minister to do the apologising rather than her. At least she has some feelings and understanding that the actions of declaring war on another country will have consequences. Simple people ignore these consequences and walk around with blinkered vision. She is highlighting that we have some part to play on these poor innocent children caught up in a savage and brutal war. The apology is irrelevant her stance is correct.

Back again :unamused:

I agree with her stance that is all.

UKT I though you’d flounced off and left the forum several hours ago?
Did you you get stuck in the revolving door on the way out, or have you reconsidered your decision to leave?

I don’t agree with her for several reasons.
A, The wars you sight were not universally support by the British people, many pointed out the dossier that lead us to war was fake news, something that has been proved in subsequent inquiries.
The wars are the establishment’s war, not the peoples; they went ahead despite major protests and great unease by much of the population. The only thing we need to apologise for is not sending Tony Blair and those politicians that supported him from all parties to prison.

B. The people camped in Calais and other ports, saying they are escaping tyranny and persecution, are already in safe countries where they could ask for asylum and would be treated according to UN guidelines for processing asylum claims.

C. According to an UNHCR report about the influx of Migrants into Europe from the various routes, states that 74% of those are on the Central Mediterranean route, that’s basically those coming form Libya, the nationality breakdown of those people who’ve made it to Italy from Nigeria, 14%, Bangladesh 12%, Guinea and Ivory Coast both at 11% and Gambia 8%. People from Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Libya don’t even make it into the top 10. Of the over 37,000 people arriving in the first 4 months, 28,000 were men over 18. Of the 175,000 people in reception centres in Italy 47,000 had claimed for Asylum. Surely if they were escaping tyranny why are more not asking for asylum when they have got to a reception centre run by a European government?

D. It’s obvious than many of these people are economic migrants not escaping tyranny, for criminal gangs, it has become a lucrative business, either by taking money from the migrants during their journey into Europe or by exploiting them when they get here. The UNHCR was concerned about the reports that many of the women were being trafficked for the ■■■ industry.

Agree on all of the above, however I said it was down to our prime minister to apologise and not her. She is highlighting the consequences of waging war in other countries. Allepo in Syria was raised to the ground and not many friendly countries to stop off in who were sympathetic, Britain played a big part in this as an allied country that destroyed this place. You cannot cause that much devastation and simply walk away. The war should never have gone ahead to begin with in my opinion, everyone was warned about destabalising the middle east, westerners are not welcome at the best of times let alone sending troops in. The camps in Calais is a british problem caused by our own politicians. The French even blame us and Angela Merkel has poured petrol on an already blazing fire.

I’ve split this thread and put the plastering stuff in Bully’s.

Plastering and stuff (split from BWAH HA HA HA HA)

Please stay on topic … or at-least somewhere that vaguely resembles the topic :grimacing:

The camps in Calais is a british problem caused by our own politicians. The French even blame us and Angela Merkel has poured petrol on an already blazing fire.

The French were far more involved in the war in Syria and carried out air strikes in Syria from 2013; the UK Government was prevented from doing so after losing a vote in Parliament and only started carrying them out at a later date, when most of the opposition to the Syrian government forces was by Islamic jihadist organisations.

The origins of the war in Syria, have nothing to do with UK or any of its allies deciding to go to war there, it started with an internal uprising, part of the Arab Spring fracturing into many different factions, fighting the Assad regime and each other.

The final battles for Allepo were between the Russian backed Syrian Government forces and the aforementioned jihadist groups; I don’t believe either side or their supporters are known for being great allies of the UK, at least not since WW2?

As for not having many friendly countries between Syria and the UK, as I said there are many countries between Syria and the UK that abide by the agreed procedures to deal with asylum claims, so people don’t have to camp in Calais to try and get the UK to claim for asylum and I also said that many of those making their way into Europe are not looking for asylum, but are economic migrants. There should be a debate on how European countries deal with that situation, but the sentiments that the likes of Lilly Allen express that these people are escaping tyranny, just perpetuates a system where criminals exploit the situation and people are put into greater danger, by being launched into the Mediterranean in flimsy boats.
