Buying truck with N category

Hi everyone,
I’m new to this group, so be forgiving if I’m placing a topic in e wrong room,
I am wondering is it worth to hassle to buy a truck with category N, not many miles on the clock 2016 reg ,please share your opinions
thank you

NO,hth… :unamused:

It depends on what you wanna do with it?
Is it for private or commercial use?
If it’s the latter then your probably wasting your money

it’s for commercial use … as a first truck in company hmmm….

More so now than probably ever before (well certainly in my lifetime) i think the odd marker on a truck will be the least of your concerns and i can guarantee this won’t be on ya drive anytime soon. Hope this helps [emoji106][emoji106]

A handy tip if you want to be a £millionaire in the uk haulage industry, start with £2million then after all the frustration, heartbreak and financial losses you’ll still have a £million left.

Save yourself the headache, either buy a lottery ticket or spend your money on whiskey and whores

use the reg and get an insurance quote.
a cat N is what a cat D used to be meaning very minor damage or possibly stolen/recovered with only lock damage or similar.
they are great value for money with only the panic merchants joe public thinking they are horror story cut and ■■■■ things.
it will not be registered on the v5 and itl have a slightly different value if you write it off again.
a cat S will be written on the v5 and theres no hiding it.
its easy and cost free to remove a cat d or now cat n from a logbook and hpi registers if your clued up,but you cant remove a cat s as itl always be written on the v5.

This. Back in the day I saw cars CAT D because they’d had the wheels nicked and the original alloys with original spec tyres on cost over half what the vehicle was worth. I’ve seen them CAT D because of lock damage, especially on modern vehicles where you could be spending £200 for a single ignition key and paying a dealer £200 to program it to the ECU. And when you’re using original body panels and a commercial bodyshop who do insurance work what you and I could probably fix for £100 by going to a breakers and getting panels from a car in the same colour can cost a few grand at said bodyshop.

The only thing to be aware of is you want someone with you know knows about such stuff with no vested interest in it to give you a honest view of it, not the rose tinted glasses one you are likely to have. Also remember it’ll be worth less when you get shut although if you keep it 4 or 5 years it’ll not be worth a great lot anyway as a 10 year old motor.
