Buying a Tractor Unit from abroad

Hi Everybody

I have been looking at tractor units for sale abroad and noticed that they are considerably cheaper across there than in the uk. I know they will be left hand drive and that does not bother me but my question is what is the process I must go through to get it UK registered if i do decide to go for one and how much of headache is the whole process ■■.

VIC , full HGV plate test , getting UK reg and the hardest part finding a company to insure such truck as insurers are getting cagey about any thing on a car van truck out of the norm

I know some race teams who’ve imported both Tractor Units and Trailers into the UK from within the EU.
It does seem to take a bit of time, but wasn’t so difficult it didn’t make it worthwhile. Depends on how good you are at form filling and dealing with government bureaucracy.
