That’s mine at the far end Paul,ex Tarmac as well. I was well happy with her, the only thing that got to me at the end of the week I’d have to shift a few cwt from the front of the body,it needed another couple of foot on the rams, hardly the lorries fault, cheers coomsey

Thanks Coomsey for your reply.
Not sure why driver’s did not like them, not many still alive now to ask.
Here is another pic of a Reiver, could be same one.
No idea how many they had,and no info with this pic.
Are they Bison or Lynx in front of yours?

All Bisons , they loved em barring mine they ran a dozen or so out of all the local quarries except Bardon. Then out of the blue they saw the light!!

Great pics Coomsey.
Butlers had a few Bisons as well.
They did like the Fodens though, half of the fleet were Fodens 6 & 8 leggers.
They came in handy when doing the M62 at Gildersome, supplied over 350,000 tonnes of stone.

atlas man,I wonder if you dealt with Ray Lane?I think he was in the stores back then.He was the store manager for Butlers at the British Leyland dealership in Maltby & when Tarmac closed it down he moved to the quarry.

hi i carnt remember any names was a long time ago

Does anyone have any stories relating to Butlers quarry at Maltby in South Yorkshire ? The quarry is now owned by Tarmac and I was wondering if anyone worked from there in the 70s.Any pics would be gratefully received too.

Sorry BD no pics of Butlers but I remember 'em well as I worked next door to their yard at MFS on the Littlewoods contract.
One of our supervisors was sniffing around there one night after summat and fell down one of their pits. Caused 6.4 on the Richter scale.
They left Rotherham Road Maltby about 1979 I reckon.
