Busy . . . or not?

Still busy shifting the booze, the people of this great nation don’t seem to want to cut back on the Ale to save the pennies

With the soft fruit season in full swing and the top fruit one starting it has been very busy up until the last week or so, but that has been down to the weather forecasts.

I think you`re misinterpreting some of this.

You’re a fear ■■■■ addict aren’t you? I bet you spend all your time online reading all the doom and gloom you can, going on Tiktok, Youtube etc scrolling through all those videos telling you the world is going to end because that’s what the algorithms will feed you due to how many you clicked on.

No I’m not misinterpreting it. The headline figures being spread in the news are calculated using the price rise in October. So is my projection.

Up another 52% next January.

Nobody knows what it will be going up by in January because OFGEM haven’t announced it. Your favourite fear ■■■■ peddling sources who got it wrong and over-egged the October rise by 5% may have told you that is what it’s going up by but until OFGEM state what it is it’s just a guess. And even if it does go up 52% that’ll make mine £4529, over £800 less than the £5387 that the clickbait fear ■■■■ peddlers are selling and thats even before any potential government help.

Yes, the MSE tool might give the projected annual cost for you, based on prices that are only valid until Dec 2022

I know this. And when the next rise is actually known because OFGEM have announced it I’ll do the calculations again but I’m pretty certain that like now it’ll still end up being less than the next scaremongering fear ■■■■ figure being bandied about in the papers.

All the figures I used were from MSE. The same site you used.

So, you pay less than the quoted typical user. Good for you. If your original bill was less than the example given by MSE, then it seems perfectly reasonable to assume your final bill will be less also.

Conor:
up from £1690.

Your previous figure …£1,690.
Your projected figure…£4,529.

Youre working and have previously told us you have some savings etc. So, if youre not at all worried about that increase good for you.
But don`t tell all of those on fixed incomes that there is nowt for them to be concerned over. Not everyone is in the same boat as you.

Connor is so dumb, lol.

Where do you think the gov’t is going to get the £400 to ‘‘help’’ you? Out of their own pocket? Oh wait all that’s in their pocket is what they first took from you. Or what they borrowed in your name with your smart arse on the hook for it, plus annual interest until it’s repaid (hint=never) which again will have to be taxxed from the working populace. Or they simply print the money and add to the inflation and blame Russia/covid/dry season/wet season select as appropriate.

You’d be surprised how many of the fear ■■■■ peddlers from a year or two ago turned out to be near 100% correct in their predicions on inflation and the recessions we’re already in

And on topic, yes not too busy over 'ere either - overpriced convenience food sector; my run is still going as normal but quantities are down 30-40%. I rarely have more than 10 pallets on my artic where before it would be 20+ (last year). Company panicked some time last year due to ‘‘driver shortage’’ and put a bunch of warehouse staff and van drivers through their class 2+1 training and test. Total of 10 new drivers, 2 of them they took on with the remaining 8 still driving vans and forklifts and no new runs in sight in fact some of the daily class 2 runs got merged and are now done every other day on a class 1

Has been quiet on boxes. Have barely worked more than 5 hours a day over the past 2 weeks. Most times I end up in our yard by 11

I’ve mentioned this before; a wise old gaffer once told me that the time he starts worrying is when drivers STOP moaning.

Yep he is! Brexit, Covid, Energy crisis and so on, pretty certain he gets turned on by continually posting his “negative” links.

Still busy on the plant hire - but for how long, though.

I’ve noticed that it is a lot quieter in the services. There were even plenty of spaces in Beaconsfield last week.

We’ve gone very busy. I keep getting offered overtime shifts (I don’t know why, I’ve never once said yes), and twice in the past fortnight I couldn’t get a parking space at work. I prefer when we go very quiet and get 8 hours, just a trailer swap somewhere.

The Orange DIY brigade are twiddling their thumbs, work appears to have dropped off a cliff and the massive numbers they recruited and trained up mean theyre overstaffed for the amount of work to do, so they aint getting any long runs, and some are sitting in the yard/canteen all day. Stores are having less frequent deliveries each week as the public are buying less. ALL the drivers at the Doncaster depot didn`t work the bank holiday as the few runs that there was where covered by another nearby depot.

It seems supermarket work has been busy enough over the last few weeks, but an ominous sign during my shift yesterday - stores ordering pallet loads of the cheapest tea and pasta they can offer. Not seen that before. Seems like they’re expecting people to start tightening their belts from here on in…

It’s funny you should say that. I did 3 Tesco stores last week, and the amount of booze in each one was very noticable. Literally half the cages on one of the stores were full of booze.

You’re not wrong.

About 2 cages will be normal, healthy, wholesome foodstuff lol.
