Looks like Eggs McMuffin’s are shortly going to be off the menu.

The term “spy” implies that the person concerned is passing on information of use to a rival. You can be an asset without being a spy hence attracting a lot less attention from the boys and girls at Langley. Just saying.

Ok but which side of the fence are these ‘‘political commentators’’ on exactly?

Yeah Exactly.

Yeah I get that, but seriously…Do you really think that a Russian asset, would get past the absolute first and preliminary stage of getting to the achievement of the absolute epitome of political power?

Maybe one would manage to get through the net of local council, or even a minor MP…but the actual President of the USA?

I am sure there are stringent checks from stage 1 and even before, and especially so if there were rumours going around about it all in the first place, they are hardly going to ignore them.

As I said,.a great plot for a Netflix espionage movie, but nah I aint having it.

Nixon was known as “Tricky Dicky” a long time before he got elected in 1968. Didn’t stop him getting the top job.

George H W Bush colluded with the Iranians to effectively rig an election but later got elected.

That Trump got elected is, in my opinion, more a statement of the poor quality of politicians - from both sides of the aisle. A sad parallel with our political masters as well unfortunately, hence why we ended up with the clowns and crooks who have being running the show for such a long time (and continue to do so both at local and national level).

Yeah again I get that also.
As far as i remember Nixon was just a dishonest crook who cleverly managed to blag it rather than an asset used by a hostile foreign piwer was he not?

Bush?..I did not know that tbh, but colluding and being a direct undercover asset is a bit different.

Agree with the rest btw. as I have just said on other thread politicians are basically all the same…some better or worse than others, and all liars…part of the qualification.

So, it’s okay to be a crook. What does that say about the mental capacity of the average voter.

Regarding Bush, not for a minute suggesting that he was drawn to the dark side but his outward jovial old grandfather demeanour camouflaged a reckless approach to world affairs. Basically letting Iraq know that they couldn’t care less if they invaded Kuwait. The same Iraq that the Reagan administration had been secretly supplying military materiel to it’s foe for years previously. I suppose that it was just a coincidence that the US were wrestling with the problem of re-locating the now redundant troops in Europe (a consequence of the end of the cold war). They couldn’t come back to America as there was nowhere to house them. Let’s redeploy them at Saudi Arabia’s expense - who cares if there’s 50,000 Iraqi deaths. That turned out well for the region. As a folly goes it’s up there with the Balfour Declaration of 1917.

Well no…because I did not say it ‘was ok’’ did I.
I was commenting on how things actually are in the real world,.despite politicians putting on an act to cover it…so no not ‘‘ok’’ at all.

As for the voters,aka us…
It just brings me back to my card game analogy again…
‘‘You can only play with the cards that are dealt’’
Or dont play at all…dont vote.

Our phrase up here is slightly different “you can only p!ss with the c0ck you’ve got” :grinning:

Same here…but I’m too polite.:joy::joy:

(No I aint btw by any stretch :joy:)

You do realise that Hitler was elected too, don’t you? Fooling most of the people by hiding your real intentions doesn’t make it OK.

Yeah Hitler was.
Thing is though he was purposely voted for specifically on the Nazi (or National Socialist ) ticket.
People wanted him and his particular brand of politics at the time…so I fail to see your point.

Furthermore he was not voted in as the President of the US, Trump was on the policies stated in his campaign, the American people were basically pi55ed with woke politics.
So what is the relavance of that also?

'course you do.

Yeah…so care to explain or not.
(Up to you either way btw.not THAT fussed.)

‘Quote…’'Our government is the government of zero action with zero accountability."

Yep in terms of illegal immigration, it sounds a bit familiar, and very close to home.
But Trump seems to have it sorted in his country.

No hotels (nor indeed ‘‘hostels’’ :joy:) for his ,illegals,
Nope…it’s The Guantanamo Bay Express. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

He gives them free clothes as we do, no designer sportswear though…but a lovely orange jump suit.:joy:

And THAT is just the sort of thing that kinda ‘‘attracts’’ me to him (loosely speaking) and did with the majority of American voters thst put him in office
Keep seething btw guys.:joy::joy:

It must be eating them all up inside knowing he’s the president for the next 4 years. :joy:

Yep…so a bit like most of us with Starmer then eh? :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
I have a moan about that on here admittedlly, but I just have to acceot it and make the best of it all for myself.
And in mitigation I don’t go all ott ‘‘pantie wetting’’ about it, and at least it is a more relavant situation to me and mine .
But there ya go.

Doesn’t mean Trump is an actual Nazi though, obviously.

Trump will live rent free in their heads for the next 4 years Robroy and it is glorious
