Busy Mr Trump

I know exactly what you mean…as does the majority of the country.
Sick of Tories, totally pi55ed with Labour, but I do think there is a kinfd of duty to vote…if only to stop the worst getting in (as now)

Never trusted MPs, no mindless aliegance to ANY party…but Farage abd his crew in MY view is saying a lot (not all) of what I want to hear, but I aint naive enough not to know this is how these tyoes play their (mind) games.

My view is he could not possiblly do any worse than the other 2 self serving parties of clowns, he is a succesful buisness man, he knows the score,.so nothing to lose and potentially something to win and gain if only based on that.
But that is just MY opnion,.I aint an expert…despite all the blagging I do on the political thread.:joy:

The US / Mexico border is indeed about 3,100km, but about 2,000km of that is the Rio Grande river
[/quote]
0.3 nano seconds on google maps shows the border frollows the river from la parida in mexico to starbase texas at the gulf. thats 724.2 km roughly. in fact it took longer converting from miles to km than looking on the map.

i took the extra word out for you. As over 50% cross the river that is how they got the racial term.

nope not all of the wall will be built from scratch some will be demolished and rebuilt. far more expensive then building something on a clean slate.

they have to be paid for. and it has been proven it doesnt work…
we have the french that we are paying a fortune to they just stand there and hand out life jackets.

The French have been paid 540 million to exactly nothing apart from posturing when there is a tv crew around to film a dinghy being punctured, by French law the Gendarmerie and police can’t enter the sea , not even one inch of it, in case they panic and scare the boat people in to drowning.
On the media footage, it’s so evident who the leader in the group is by his arm and hand gesturing to guide them on to the dinghy, he is not the main man at the top of the criminal gang but just a sub lieutenant on the front line , if Sir Keir is so serious to smash the gangs then nick that guy to interview him on who he knows, how they are paying, what fake bank accounts with bogus companies or false names to investigate.

nope he gave them another 100 mill the other month… plus little bits here and there all under the table so no one knows exactly how much untill farage et al get in and do an audit.

That’s so sneaky, they use distraction techniques to distract the public in to saying they have paid the other parts of the millions to the French who must be laughing their socks off at soft touch Britain, it’s going to be one hell of a Christmas party knee’s up courtesy of hard working tax payers who some have to do three jobs just to keep a roof over their heads.

A major headline in the news will be announced, that’s nothing to do with how much the French are receiving, the payment announced will be very subtle, blink then miss it, all designed to make us look the other way.

Probably just making trouble. I can’t see him starting a movement that he can’t lead:

Article Two, Section 1 of the United States Constitution sets forth the eligibility requirements for serving as president of the United States, under clause 5 (emphasis added):

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

Whoops.
“The suggestion that he was a very wealthy man in the city is probably a misnomer. He is probably doing better as an MEP”
One of his companies ended up insolvent.

For years he has been a professional politician, earning pay as an MEP, and as a journalist etc.
He could do no worse? He was full of praise for the Truss/Kwarteng budget.
He has spoken often about the US health system. One of the most expensive and inefficient in the world…
He has described himself as “skint” whilst on his MEP salary. Nigel Farage's Woes Have Been Mocked In A Brilliant Thread Everyone Can Relate To | HuffPost UK Comedy

Musk might not be eligible to become POTUS but he probably has enough cash to get others to do what he says.
And the US Constitution is increasingly becoming more flexible in the hands of the Supreme Court. It is also possible that a sympathetic POTUS and House could modify it. Far from impossible I would suggest.

Yep whatever…
Still.stand by the fact that he could do no worse, than the Tories, and certainly no worse thsn the present shower of crap.

If I could be arsed…(can’t be btw) I could do some other serious muck raking on some of the crew that you favour…
They ALL aint how they try and portray themselves and can not be trusted, just some are better and some are worse than others
But hey we’ve been here before on all this stuff.
The words urine and fire spring to mind when MPs crop up in conversation to me…whatever their colours.

Two things.

First. Musk’s ego would never allow him to be the king without a throne.

Second. It’s the one thing that Trump can hold over him. He (Trump) will never allow the constitution to be changed if it favoured Musk.

Just my opinion.

Some big "IF"s following.
If Musk did get a party under way, and If it was successful, then If his pet POTUS changed the Constitution…Musk could succeed.
All very doubtful admittedly, but some strange things have already happened in the US, and all it needs is for Musk to believe such a thing is possible for him to fund such a party.
He has a high opinion of himself and his abilities. I would say there is a good chance he will at least start a new party.

It’s probably more of a warning shot across Trump’s bows in respect of the mid-terms. However whatever his motives are it’s clear that the US is becoming extremely divided and I wouldn’t be surprised if both China and Russia used this to their advantage. Just for the record, if history has taught us anything, I genuinely don’t think it’s beyond the realms of possibilities that, if things continue in their current vein into the next Presidency, some form of military coup could take place over there. Again, just my opinion, with nothing to base it on other than the history of the world.

I do agree. Not on a definite trajectory, but a very real risk.

If history teaches us anything, it is that we do not learn from history.

I do not think for an instant that Putin is telling Trump what to do, but I do think that he is a far better psychologist and game player than Trump is.
In fact IMHO Putain and Netanyahu are both playing a good game. Jinping is certainly not losing either. They all seem to see him for what he is, and are playing to please him and his clan.
The US is losing a lot in many areas, but the Trump clan are not doing so badly themselves.

But back to armed revolt?
We saw it on Jan 6th 2021. Only a small scale, but it was there. And how were the guilty punished? Prison followed by a pardon.

Or do you mean that the US Military would actually take a stand? Trump changed the high command when he took office didn’t he? I don’t know how common that is.
The whole US structure is far more politicised than the UK is. From Police (elected chiefs) Justice, through to Military. Too easy to swing away from neutrality.

Just an opinion, i think it’s gone to far, mr trump is slowly getting the power he wants to do things his way
It’s all been baby steps up to now and it’s slowly coming together for him, he has everything and everyone fearing him and the worst has to come
As the saying goes, we ain’t seen nothing yet

I’m talking a full blown military coup. If you look at precedents here it’s not necessarily the military high brass that initiate a coup it’s middle ranking officers who have the support of the “grunts” behind them. It should also be noted that Trump has embarked on a programme of reducing the number of 2 star and above officers (major general upwards) and that in recent times the social background of these officers are not the typical West Point cadets of years gone by. It wouldn’t take much to have a less sympathetic/malleable leadership than is currently in position.

@Ledwidge and @dennisjavelin
I do not disagree with any of that.
I hope we are all wrong, but it does look very bad at the moment.

If the last election had resulted in a small electoral college win for Harris, and if Trump had won the popular vote, (the opposite of 2016) would Trump have accepted it? I doubt it.
But that would likely have been a civil uprising initially. Would the military have joined in?

Trump has started using the military on the US streets. Only a gentle start, and not much push back so far. Will he go further?

ICE agents are covering their faces. Why? If they know they are acting within the law why are they frightened? Do they know they are acting extra-juris and are worried about later actions against themselves?
Are they part of him testing boundaries? If they go against their better judgment will others?
Are they different to soldiers etc?

If there was a move to deploy Marines etc against civil protesters?
As you suggest the higher echelons would pass down those orders. Would lower officers etc, see that as an unconstitutional order and refuse? Soldiers Are Taking a Stand Against Trump’s Abuses | The New Republic

i posted this on the political thread but as you are all crying into your cornflakes about musk it is relevant…

you couldnt make this crap up.

Zarah sultana (yes that is what she calls herself) and corbyn have broken away from labour to make their own party too bad every other labour zealot that has been shut out including dianne abbott told em to do one. even the labour independent party told em to do on

All of those illegal migrants? The murderers, rapists, etc? It seems that some of them are not so bad.
Yeah? Sez who?

Look…if some of those illegals are working for less than the going rate, because they are frightened of ICE. If they are turning extra profit for Trump voters. If they are modern day field hands.
Yeah…let 'em stay.

So what he has only gone after the criminal element as he has said time and time again. Trouble is the lefties and illegals are sooo thick they cant grasp that so they kick off causing themselves to be arrested. Once in the system they have to be deported. As that is part of american law. Its not racism or anything else just fact

Here’s a good example of Nigel’s so called business skills

Nigel Farage, leader of Reform UK and MP for Clacton, has established notable ties with Nomad Capitalist, a consultancy that assists affluent individuals in legally reducing their tax liabilities and acquiring second citizenships.

:briefcase: Engagements with Nomad Capitalist
• Speaking Engagement: In September 2024, Farage delivered a keynote speech at a Nomad Capitalist event in Kuala Lumpur. For this appearance, he received a payment of £40,075.37 for approximately 10 hours of work, as recorded in his MP’s register of interests.
• Advocacy: In promotional materials for the event, Farage discussed a perceived “brain drain” in the UK, attributing it to governmental policies on non-domiciled individuals. He commended Nomad Capitalist for providing guidance on relocating to more favorable tax jurisdictions.

:globe_showing_europe_africa: About Nomad Capitalist

Founded by Andrew Henderson in 2012, Nomad Capitalist offers services to high-net-worth clients seeking to:
• Legally minimize tax obligations.
• Obtain second residencies or citizenships.
• Diversify and protect assets internationally.

The firm promotes the concept of becoming a “global citizen” and emphasizes strategies for international investing and wealth preservation.

:microphone: Public Perception and Criticism

Farage’s association with Nomad Capitalist has drawn criticism due to perceived contradictions between his nationalist rhetoric and involvement with a firm that facilitates global mobility for the wealthy. Critics highlight the irony of his stance against immigration while supporting services that enable affluent individuals to relocate internationally for financial benefits.
