I can see thousands of young backpackers planning to end their journey penniless in the US. $1000 and a free trip home, what’s not to like.
The same question applies to Ukraine Rob.Why here instead of among their own culture in Poland and Hungary and Slovenia.All with a population density of around 100 per km2.As opposed to ours around 280 per km2.We don’t need more people.

I don’t know mate,.I suppose if a country is willing to show a bit of compassion and help, why should they not choose to come here?
The ones in my area seem to be all genuine people who have integrated into the local community fully, and work to help pay their way…they cerrainly are not scroungers like the other lot in question
And I don’t think any have any intention of staying after their war ends…no young guys of fighting age,.they are doing just that…fighting.
They are all women and kids…ie ‘‘Refugees’’.

We had kids from London up here in the war as evacuees from London area my auntie tells me.
lots didnt want to be. my father was evacuated when he was around 14 6 months later he went back to london and joined the gpo as a boy messenger. He wanted to fight but wasnt old enough. I have told the story on here before when one night the air raid sirens went off and as per usual my father refused to go into the shelter except this night the windows were blown in he just got out of bed shook the glass out of his bed and went back to sleep.
you all have very short memories remember the two german girls that you were all crying over that turned up with out a return ticket or any real plans or money
no need to sail up that far… there is a perfectly good sand bar at reculver… just drop em off from the outside channel and tell them to start walking towards the lights.

Fine so we take less than half as many from Ukraine as Poland in line with our existing 2.8x larger population density.
Poland takes over twice as many of all the other freeloaders crossing from France and walking in here off the beaches from the third world.
Or turn them back to where they came from.
My Mum and her baby sister were both ‘offered’ evacuation but she refused to leave their Mum behind and be split up from her sister.
Her eventual brother in law’s sister, of same age as her, was evacuated but didn’t like the hosts and went back home.
Although they didn’t know each other at the time both escaped the carnage of the V2 rocket attack on Park Road Kingston by around a mile and their house was even nearer to it than that.Showered in glass and rubble as the blast blew in the front windows of their school.So obviously enough were not evacuated to make up school classes.
That’s how close my Grandfather came to losing his own family, after his sister and his niece a few years previously, while he was serving in Europe.Run and hide wasn’t in their vocabulary.

What is Trump going to do about this? He has a chance, after all his boasting about too many people have been killed in Ukraine so he’s going to fix it, to prevent something
equally horrific; and perhaps go some way to improving how the rest of the world views him. Or is he going to let netanyahboohoo treat the Palestinians population as untermensch?
Looks like Trump is treating the Palestinians just as he and his father used to treat black tenants in their properties. Just “evict” them so they can earn money on “the property”.
Trump as POTUS has great power to wield here, but is doing nowt for neither a short term fix nor a lasting peace.
There are many Israelis against Netanyahu and his hawkish Gov, but so long as he keeps the pot boiling he can hold on to power and avoid possible court cases. He has no real desire for peace.
As a note not all Russians are for Putain and his Ukraine invasions. In his case though he cannot be voted out.
Elsewhere I read a comment about the Tump / Carney meeting.
Carney commented that Canada was not for for sale, “Just like the the Whitehouse” Trump nodded.
