Busy Mr Trump

That’s it in a nutshell, at least according to our resident Joe McCarthy/Alf Garnett impersonator.

Don’t tell him this but I served in HM armed forces and have never worn a poppy. I’m a bad man and destined for hell, that’s for sure.

Gotta be carful now. Anyone who doesn’t conform in certain societies are automatically enemies of the people.
N Korea springs to mind, and it is also evident in 1984’s Two Minutes Hate.

I have just had one poster suggest that because I do not condemn criminals as often as he does, I must support them. Apart from the lack of logical thought processes, the post hinted that I might not be very popular…boo hoo, How I cried.
You really do need to show that you are “one of us”, if not some people on here might not think well of you!

Excellent, with the fish cheer to get it off to a flying start. Hardly the pinnacle of musical achievement but full of emotion and of it’s time.

Can’t think of who that could be

Echoes of 1984 and 1933.

Hello.:joy::joy::hand_with_fingers_splayed::hand_with_fingers_splayed:

Sorry but if simeone acts like a complete prat I call him a prat…simple as that.:smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

At least you know where you are with me…no act, no pretence, what you see is what you get, simple as that.
(The word ‘‘sorry’’ used VERY loosely btw.:joy:)

As opposed to sympathy and support for South East Asian Communist governments and forces v the anti Communist US and Australian governments and forces, clearly being a binary, for or against, choice.
The answer is the unarguable mark of a Commy v anti Commy.

I’d be very worried if our armed forces were/are on the side of Pol Pot and Ho Chi Minh and China regarding the Vietnam War.Let alone if that’s the reason we stayed out of it.
The US boots on the ground tactics were wrong not their motives and reasons.
Bearing in mind we shot more misguided Irish continuation sympathisers or just church goers on Bloody Sunday than the US National Guard shot of those undermining the US war effort and giving support to an enemy in time of war.

Would you and they have preferred the US to win out in Cambodia and South Vietnam or Pol Pot and Ho Chi Minh ?.That was the choice.
Obviously in an ideal world things might have been different but the US National Guard obviously understood the stakes and were on the right side of history.
Depending on your definition of ‘right’.

Have you seen this film CF, another dictator Idi Amin, he was absolutely ruthless in getting rid of people he didn’t like?

Some more to digest on, Zalazar of Portugal was no angel either.
Both Franco and Zalazar ruled for a long time period, 30 years or more.

Whatever the story regarding Idi Amin’s rise to power, doesn’t make demonstrating in support of Ho Chi Minh’s and Pol Pots regimes and against your own country in time of war, right.
Or whingeing about the potential implications of that if the country then replies with extreme prejudice.
Bearing in mind that the British government didn’t back the US in Vietnam or Cambodia but did sympathise with the Communist backed insurgencies in Rhodesia and South Africa and seems to have played a part in Amin regime’s installation.
Anti Communist America isn’t the bad guy here.

Oops, I didn’t think it was you. My bad, sorry.

Quite how one gets from Student protests about the Vietnam War, the Draft and ‘General Patton’ Tricky Dicky’s secret involvement and then escalation of US operations in Cambodia into support for the Kmer Rouge and a wish for a Communist takeover of Cambodia and Vietnam defies belief.

What the timeline tells us however is that the US Army operation in force had begun (April 30th) only a matter of days before the shootings on May 4th. Nixon’s plan for students to be drafted at the end of the next term was approved on April 23rd

Students would have been concerned about being drafted in the near future, when they could see friends for previous drafts coming home in a box. They would have been very much opposed to the prospect of joining an Army which had only months before have been revealed to have been covering up the My Lai Massacre

Which brings us to this article from Trumps previous term as president and Nixon.

It’s quite simple really - you get the love child of Joe McCarthy and Alf Garnett to comment.

Soon the post will resemble a bin bag on a motorway.

It’s behind a paywall. Can you cut and paste for all to see. Thanks.
