So to sum up …2 German kids take a hol in the US, try and blag a couple of days work on the snide, after running short of cash, they get caught ,.get interviwed and it bites them on the arse… and they instantly regret it.
The US take a dim view of this, re.act, so lesson learned, they head back to der Fatherland vowing never to do it again…job done.
Nothing to see here…no pearls need to be clutched by any Drama Queens.
Ffs.
So according to you tourists arent subject to the same laws as residents of the country. I must remember that next time i go to france ill have to plan a bank robbery whos in? We wont get jail time because franglais says its totaly different
Of course not.
They are not subject to compulsory military service in those countries that have conscription. They are not required to register to vote in countries where that is the norm. They are not required to cahnge their driving licence unless they are residents, in which case it is compulsory. They do not pay tax on their income to the country they are visiting as tourists.
nope nor do they pay tax to any country they are visiting or residing in if it is earnt outside the country and income tax is paid in the country of employment just like sunak and these girls.
the reason these two girls were stopped is that is now illegal. you cannot work remotely on a tourist visa (something you conveniently ignored from my original post) also unlike your example with the it consultants you your self said they were working for a british company these girls were going to work freelance so had no visible means of income. ie what would of happened if they didnt find a client outside of the us.
I don’t know. Does ypour crystal ball tell you what would have happened?
The US decided that they would have broken the law and so refused them entry.
That was their assuption. One they are legally allowed to make.
Entry was refused because of that assumption.
want to try that one again? dont try saying you didnt say it as fact either… they obviously told you that and you have repeated it. just like i repeated what you said.
100000 sources on the internet.
there are lots of sources that say you need a nomad visa not a tourist visa
well thats one question they would of been asked by the immigration officers. Clearly they said they were going to do freelance work.
no they assumed that they would either work illegally or become destitute and unable to get home and would of cost the us money to send them home. again something that is a condition of a tourist visa is that you can support yourself for the entire length of your stay.
No. My undersatnding could be wrong.
I did not simply say the shorter and easier “they worked for a UK company” quite deiberately.
How something can be “obvous” to you, when you were not there is a symptom of your thought processes.
The conversation was not an interrogation by me, where I cross questioned these people to get an exact understanding of their finances.
Hence i refferred to my understanding not a factual statement.
Ah, so were you at that interview as well as a witness to my casual conversation in Spain over a year ago?
Or is that another leap of conjecture?
You are assuming that is the assumption of the US.
Where does it say they had insufficient funds? You are just inventing stuff to explain what happened.
If they had no money why didn’t the US say “They had no money”?
If they had no money that is sufficient reason to legally refuse entry. I do not think it is sufficient reason to strip search, imprison, and handcuff two teenagers.
well the other option is you lied and made it up so using your own criteria once someone lies ala trump / boris / farage etc you cant trust them so are we to assume then that you lied and cant be trusted?
so in your head the officer asked what the price of tomatoes was and they said we are going to work as freelance interpreters. most people are capable of holding a conversation and following a logical course.
no i am using you words against you like you are trying to twist mine and use them against me but just making yourself look even sillier.
where does it say they did have, They clearly said they were going to do freelance work otherwise where does the translation and design work come into it. Common sense tells you that to spend 5 weeks in hawaii then california and costa rica needs money. They were clearly planning to do freelance work to fund that otherwise why do freelance work. The definition of freelance work is that you pick and choose when you work.
how do you know they didnt the freelance working was just one reason.
so once again we are off into franglais world where everyone but white english men gets to have special treatment. sorry in reality if you break the law you get detained part of that is being strip searched. same as if i was stupid enough to rob a french bank and got caught i would be arrested hand cuffed strip searched and thrown in jail. why because i broke the law.
Mr Trump is busy… on the oars this time.
Trying to row back on “the beautiful, beautiful, tariffs.”
Of course it isn’t because of the trouble in the US stock market, nor the US bonds market. It isn’t because he made any sort of error.
No! Not at all.
It is of course, because China is in trouble, they cannot afford the problems, and he wants to help them.
Yes Mr Trump, of course that is so.
Mind you Trump does look set for some success.
I will try to be fair on this, he is achieving one of his aims: his tariffs were designed to reset the world order. And it looks like that may be happening.
The US has been by far the greatest economy in the world for decades. That position is now under threat.
Not a great threat it is true, but it might change. But hey! II is less than 100 days so he can get that moving quickler I have little doubt.
So he isnt dropping them he is proposing to lower them if the chinese enter into a fair trade deal. Seems reasonable to me… maybe reeves will take lessons while she is over there.
