Okay folks, I’m doing a bit of business research although this is probably one of the silliest places I should be asking these questions it is very important I get these questions filled in. The research is for my college work in business and we’re doing research on Ice cream and we’ve had to make questionnaires and I need to get some filled in. far too many questions I think, if it was a face to face questionairre in the street you could lose people in the first 2 q’s

age should be in an age bracket
they wouldn’t be answering if they didn’t like ice cream
Marital status should be included as well as if they have a family, i.e. the number of children would greatly alter the amount or flavour they would buy
what ice cream they normally buy would also be their favourite especially if they were single
brand of ice cream? too many variables also daz is a washing powder… ask if they buy branded or shops own
price of ice cream is determined by which product they buy and what their favourite is
can’t think of a flavour that hasn’t been tried
ice cream is popular 'cos it tastes nice, everyone would answer this the same.

Ideally Johnny your questionairre should have boxes to tick or 1-10 answers so it can all be put into a graph or spread sheet so that results can be compared. It all depends how comprehensive you need the survey, brands could be included but only let them pick the ones youv’e included i.e walls, floor, ceiling, blue, green,window, door, none of the above ( couldn’t be arsed to think of ice creams)

I’m doing it for my college work to finish a piece of coursework and I am asking the same questions everywhere as I need to get about 30 - 50 filled in to collect my data. I have a paper questionnaire that I have filled out which means that I can get both the numbers and the details which I can use.

And if you were paying for the college aka the tax payer. You would be paying for the other 1000+ students that come here also. Quite funny really, if I was out of work and on the dole people would be soon having ago for me ‘scrounging’ off of the tax payer yet I still get crap for trying to get my college work done to try give me some extra qualifications even if I do end up leaving after the first year for full time work i’ll still have a few extra qualifications than I started with. Like I said if you can’t help then keep your opinions to yourself, If it was up to me I would be doing about the transport side of business but I’m not and I’ve been told to research Ice Cream businesses as if I was going to start up my own business. And if that means getting research from here, other forums, on the street or in college to get it done than I will. I’ve already got a good few questionnaires completed and already have another one completed thanks to a member on here.

I was always told at my previous college 10 - 14 questions to prevent people from getting tired of the questionnaire as well as asking both open and closed questions. I know the questions seem a bit off key, but I can work round the answers to get the information I need to get the quantitive and Qualitative information as it can help get the coursework finished. Like I said it’s just trying to get the information together and it will help my coursework, also a variety of ages helps also instead of it just being teenagers, or kids or adults. I get a variety of answers which would also be more beneficial to my work.

Also the help does work, I shall be using it in future reference :slight_smile:

what I meant about the ages was have it in brackets as in 20-30, 30- 40, 40-50, etc.
if you were asking in the street and asked a woman her age she would either lie, not tell you, or you’d get in a conversation about how old do you think she is, and if you said the wrong thing she would go.

On the paper questionnaire there is age brackets ranging from 14 - 16 to 25+.I just asked the how old are you question to make it easier in a sense but I understand where you’re coming from. :slight_smile:

A Blackman,that was an ice cream which consisted of a wafer one side,ice cream in the middle and a nougat wafer with chocolate round the outside on the other side.Seems today calling an ice cream a ‘Blackman’ is politically incorrect.Shame really.

why not just make up the answers yourself?
then photocopy the first one 49 times?
when questioned about why everyone eats the same flavour ice cream, and why everyone is the same age. just explain that there was only cousin billy bob who could write, so he filled out everyone elses. the trouble is, he isn’t too good with numbers.

Thanks for the replies folks, I know it isn’t the most professional or the best of questionnaires but it’s just to get some easy answers. I can honestly say the paper questionnaire I have is a lot better than this one, this was just a quick questionnaire to get some sort of answers which I could use with my paper questionnaires. :slight_smile:

And for those who answered my questionnaire seriously, Thank you! It will help a lot towards my research in getting this project completed. and the Niche Ice cream product pricing I am talking of a 2 litre tub which I’ll edit the question so it’s more clear :slight_smile:

don’t worry about it too much, its just so you can show you know how to do research and work out the average, standard, mean, median etc
