Ray Smyth:
Two Leylands in the British Commercial Vehicle Museum at Leyland, Lancashire.
The Atlantean is ex Fishwick whose depot was close by in Leyland, the company
finally closed down a few years ago. Some of their bus routes were joint service
with Ribble Motor Services. The Ribble coach with bodywork by Burlingham is a
Leyland Tiger Cub.

Fishwicks must’ve had a long association with Leyland buses, they were early adopters of the National IIRC. I do like a lot of Burlingham coaches of that era, very smart.

I agree. The ‘Seagull’ body was a favourite of mine.
Those two AEC Regent Mk Vs left hand drive are part f an order for 300 ? I think supplied to Tehran in the 1960s, I wonder if any survive ? A further order later was made for a similar number of Leyland Atlanteans.
Cheers, Leyland 600.

300 is a big order! I was last in Tehran in about 2008 and I don’t remember seeing double-deckers.
Photographed at the Leyland Motors Plant in Leyland in the early -1980s.
One of the last Leyland Atlantean’s destined for Baghdad. (The Olympian had arrived!).
Birdie4x4:
Tarsus southern Turkey, what an adventure back then London to Kabul, the climb was quite long and steep so it looks like it was getting a bit warm.
