Believe you would need a non vocational PCV licence to drive on the road without passengers. Think the fitters have a non vocational licence to test drive
It says in the advertisement that a PCV licence is an advantage. It is almost certain that this job does not involve driving on public roads.

When I bought my bus I drove it on a car licence as it was over 30 years and no more than 8 passengers. Since MOT’ing it I’ve had to put change of use on it and its now a HGV
Is it an HGV or a private HGV?
as long as vehicle is registered as passenger carrying you need p.s.v .i thing you can drive buses if passenger seats removed but not sure .

At the ripe old age of 20, before I took my HGV test i had to drive a Manchester city bus from Wellingborough to Manchester with trade plates, it was fully legal and at one point the motorway police helped me get back in when the damm doors closed and locked me out.
No licence other than the car one was needed… the whole trip was a joke because it was limited to 45 mph and had ‘Inner circle’ on the destination board, I could have made a bit of money.
A friend of mine is a bus shunter/refueller/washer on nights in Eastleigh and he uses his class 1 to do the job.
No passengers = no psv, over 7.5t= hgv, easy innit??

As said unless completely off road this is not permitted on a class 1.

private HGV
Private HGV bus is an uncommon classification. Have you removed seats so that there are now fewer than 13?
Should make things clear BUT -
Firm I work for owned 5 12 seater crew buses. For over 5 years, everyone was happy driving them on grandaddy’s D1s with 101. This year the DVLA and VOSA have changed the interpretation of ‘hire and reward’ to encompass anyone driving who is also an employee, regardless of whether there are any passengers on board or not (never fare paying). Fortunately there were no incidents and no one got done but most of us looking at the issue couldn’t understand where the DVLA were coming from. As it is legal to drive these ‘voluntarily’ on a B, what is the point of D1 101! They have now had 3 seats removed and been re registered.

You need a PCV licence no if’s but’s or maybes.Been like that for around the last 30 years
Seriously ?
I was led to believe you could drive a bus on a class 3 if it did not contain any fare paying passengers.
Ho hum . . live and learn.
it has more then 16 seats on the back so you will need a D cat in your DL to be able to drive it. A mini bus is a D1 cat
Yes all the seats have been removed, their is only the drivers seat left.
i drive them under the impression i have no paying passengers. im sure its just a rigid with fixed seats as cargo and good visabilty
You just need a cat c licence no more no less worked on busses the company did ask dvla and they said ok

Nice one
It would make sense to get the D licence, but if you are driving on private property where the general public dont have access you can do as you ■■■■ well like.

Unfortunately not according to the DVLA!
I still dont understand how anyone can get to the point of being offered and accepting a job and all that is involved and no one thought to ask if he could do it and the subject never came up .
The posters question makes no sense at all . Am i the only one who thinks that ?

I presume the company believes it to be legal but the OP has had his doubts so has asked on here.
