Don’t like that the copper was checking he’d disclosed points to the insurers. Insurance is a private/business contract. Obviously, if you don’t disclose points on a licence they might refuse to pay out but that’'s your individual risk surely.
Its the same as driving uninsured so the police have every right to check, would you be happy if you were in a crash with an uninsured driver

OK, but it wasn’t her job to inform him.
when she past on his details to the speed camera people they would then have contacted him about the offense. there would certainly have been a summons to court if he didn’t reply. and it was at that hearing, in presume that he was banned.
i think he BS u, m8.
That’s exactly what I think happened, entirely the fault of the driver not the system.

Maybe they should stakeout his gaff too and make sure he really is parking off-road at night like he said on the form too.
maybe he should have smacked some old dear over the head, then stole her hand bag.
much more respect in the courts for that sort of thing.
but if you graft for a living, you’re pretty much [zb]ed in this country.

The offences he has been done for though are attempting to pervert the course of justice, perjury, four counts of driving while disqualified and driving with no insurance. How is that grafting?

Sorry are you suggesting its acceptable to drive with no insurance?

Don’t bother you are fighting a battle that you will never win.
Police can check anything in relation to insurance. If you are a boy racer and you put some fancy suspension on your motor you need to inform your insurance. If you don’t, you make the insurance invalid, which means you have no insurance. Now for the police to know that, they need to check with your insurance, and that means ringing your company up and finding out.
Simple as that
Also like to point out. If this ■■■■■■■■ was to crash his truck in to someones car and killed a family, and you later find out he was a banned driver, you would all be slagging him off!
Only person to be blamed is the lorry driver, no one else.
Seems streight forward enough to me, the fat the car has a policy relating to it doenst nececerily meen the policy is valid, hence they police need to check.
Some of the reasons above are valid, however I know of a case where the government joined up thinking and records caught someone out.
A good friend and colleague worked for a West Yorkshire company, he got banned for 12 months and never told a sole, not his best mate or anyone, he carried on working, he spent a lot of time out of the country and had done about 9 months of his ban, when he shipped into Immingham one Saturday morning and was pulled straight into the customs shed. VOSA were there and wandered across, saying Mr ***** What would you say if I asked you for your driving licence?
“I would say I haven’t got one sir.”
Correct answer, you realise you cannot leave the dock in this vehicle?
Yes,
Then I suggest you get someone to collect you.
For his honesty, he got a further 12 month ban and 6 months painting pensioners bungalows on community service.
He isn’t with us any longer so it can be told, but be wary of signing onto a ferry or a plane if you have anything to hide at the other end
