It doesn’t really matter though, does it? As far as I remember, your OP was about what the company were likely to do about it, not about what they’d call it.
Exactly. It was ROG that started turning this into an English lesson!

If they call it an accident then they are not saying the driver is responsible but if they call it anything else then they are saying the driver is responsible - could make all the difference in what they do or not do to the driver
ROG:
An ‘accident’ is where something is not reasonably avoidable such as a tyre blowing out when the daily checks revealed nothing amiss so was this avoidable ?
NTSA, ■■■■■■ me off how much pointless effort people put into redefining words in this stupid country. We are world class at nit picking bs

Of course nobody plans to have an ‘incident’ but why did the incident happen - driver error maybe? Why do most incidents happen? They are driver error, I’m not saying it ain’t my fault.
So we both agree that’s its not an accident but an incident
No mate, it’s an accident. Accidents can happen under driver error too.
How?
An accident is an unavoidable situation - that is why the emergency services have stopped calling them that unless its proved that the driver could not reasonably do anything about it - they now call them road traffic collisions or incidents
No they’ve stopped calling them accidents because we have a mass of pen pushing civil servants with nothing better to do but redefine words for no apparent reason.
calling something an accident as opposed to an incident does not mean that the accident wasn’t preventable.
The fact that someone was negligent or at fault does not stop it being an accident.
The calling of something as an incident is just a way to describe an event without apportioning blame at that time.
EG the police will describe what used to be an RTA as an incident because they don’t want to give any kind of case for claiming it was an unavoidable event in case they launch a prosecution.
Discussing the terms is largely pointless as we all understand that the OP had no intention of doing damage and has admitted he was careless and at fault, it was just an ACCIDENT ffs.
I bet if Rog tripped over a loose carpet at home that he had forgotten to fix earlier and knocked the TV off its stand it would be claimed as an accident on his insurance!

You’re coming across as a bit of a bell end, is this an accident or an incident?
So is it accidental or incidental

I was actually thinking I bet Rog is the only person who would have a long think about what word to use before saying anything!
if the company had’nt taken the ■■■■ trying to get 20 trailers in 15 spaces it would’nt of happened, ive taken a front off a trailer in the same situation, then they say “why did’nt you move em all down a bit”.but if i’d of done that it would of been “what ya ■■■■■■■ about at”,cant win.

Very true
luke, not sure if you are agreeing with me or having a bit of a dig for me being so long winded, either way
