The news as I have it is that Bulmers Logistics have gone… BUT the assets have been purchased the management team under the Banner of Bulmers Transport.

Hull and Immingham offices are to close with around 50 people losing their jobs.

Full story here

Bulmers Logistics at 16.00 then Bulmers Transport 16.05
Can this be done legally no operators licence, no repute, no money, no assets, no insurance ■■

THATS RIGHT AND THE ONE THING YOU LEFT OUT IS NO TAX BILL (PROBABLY)

What is the ‘pre-pack administration process?

A ‘pre-pack’ (pre-packaged sale) refers to an arrangement under which the sale of all or part of a company’s business or assets is negotiated with a purchaser prior to the appointment of an Insolvency Practitioner as administrator. The sale will be effected by the Insolvency Practitioner shortly after his/her appointment.

The Insolvency Service

I would imagine that the Management team have been working with the administrators for a while to get the new company up, funded ,licenced and ready.

They must have applied for a new O licence under that name ?.
Just recently

What I don’t get with situations like this is that if the old company wasn’t making any money and the new one is essentially the same, surely the new one isn’t going to be making any money either?

maybe the new company wouldn’t have the same level of borrowings

well well…

someone on this very forum predictied something like this would happen a few months back and for some reason it stuck in my mind.

I recall the phrase " too big , too quick "

i heard about this from the horses mouth so to speak, then when i asked one of there drivers an hour later how it was going to affect him he didnt have a clue what i was talking about, as i was leaving he was on the phone, i wonder who to?

so whats different this time, same rubbish new name.

its the same old thing a medium size company getting to big to quick. i am surprised it as taken this longing to happen.

this is my first posting on trucknet as i have just joined. I am a driver for bulmers i am one of the lucky ones who kept his job . Before bulmers i was running abroad on fridge work spain france holland belgie . Jonny bulmer is a great man the lads in the traffic great lads. My heart goes out jonny. There are some good drivers old school, stop and help u turn they hand at anything u no the type. In 18 yrs of driving i have never seen this happen drivers dictating wot work they will do and will not do, drivers takin 15hrs to do a 8 hr job so they get took of it . After the lay offs in december the same drivers still taken the mick. Things are tight through out the haulage industry . I went away on Dec 26 to work out of runcorn and came home Jan 11 and got slacked off for this . Drivers putting complaints in because joe bloggs got a new truck and they never. I hope these drivers realise now but probaly not .

Has the ipswich depot closed then.

Although the company will be making some 50 staff redundant, cutting its fleet by 40 trucks and closing its Hull and Immingham offices, it saves more than 200 jobs, which will transfer to the new firm under TUPE. In addition, it says it will continue to service all its current locations directed from its Middlesbrough or Ipswich offices.

We had same type of drivers at Celsius First. used to take 15 hours to do 8 hour job I.E grimsby to Heinz just out side Norwich. or have a night out when there was no need and they were amazed when MTL went ■■■■ up.

good to see the spin doctors have come up with a special name “pre packaged administration process” as previously we have had to refer to it as plain old “shafted everyone” :unamused:

so, besides the taxman (i.e you the taxpayer’s money), will all their previous suppliers just merrily start them a new account and start racking up more potential losses, or what?
