Hi everyone, been driving hgv for a couple years at a builders merchant. My question to you is regarding bulk bags and offloading them.
Most of the time I squeeze the bag and never had a bag split from over pressure. But it seems its very frowned upon to do that when goggling answers from ai. Not really been answered on related forums to that question either.
How many of you that do this job, squeeze the bag to offload? As opposed to climb the lorry and hook each bag then climb down.
Health and safety would say you should not get on the lorry bed unless necessary. So if you have one delivery with 12 bulk bulk bags thats 12 times you’re climbing up, hooking 4 handles to the crane in whatever weather it may be to then climb down again.
What I want to know is, I’d rather stick to grabbing bags unless I have to get up for whatever reason I can’t squeeze them and just like to confirm it isn’t illegal and if someone was to say record me on their phone doing that I wont have legal repercussions.
Thank you.
