That’s pretty cute.
Would love one of those! Maybe just a tad bigger body to live in with my creature comforts, and a Merc Actros or DAF XF cab/chassis. Be nice to just drive around from place to place by yourself and escape from the pishyness of the world. Not constantly for someone else’s “hire or reward”… while you get paid in measly peanuts.
COOKiEEES!!:

Never seen a 4x4 Actros or XF, would be no good in Morocco!
But yeah, would be nice to just take off when you want.

I saw one of these build on Mercedes, but smaller models.

we were in rotterdam in 2009 and a guy was parked up in an older m.a.n, it had a bit bigger body than the one in the link.
funny though, exact same colour. it had a very sort of off road look about it. anyway as we walked by later, the guy was cleaning the windows, and we got chatting. turns out he was a retired petrol industry exec who had retired early to do his trip of a lifetime overland to malaysia. he was in rotterdam awaiting certain visas and then was off. we chatted for an hour, and he said he’d been planning the trip for 10 years, and had bought the truck, and then had it built by a specialist to his own spec. he gave us a tour, and they really had thought of everything.
a space had been made so he could access the living quarters direct from the cab. seperate toilet and bathroom, full kitchen area, with the sink, big living area with everything, and a seperate double bedroom.
outside it had all terrain tyres, outriggers, and a small 360 crane on the roof, where more spare tyres were, also up there was a small dinghy with a 5hp motor as he said he needed to be prepared for every eventuality
they also had a cabinet at the back, that had more bloody spares than our local m.a.n dealer.
the best bit though, was inside he showed us where the trucks batteries had been located. they looked ok, but then he said watch this, at the side of the battery compartment was a hidden keyhole, that opened a door and a huge draw slid out, this he said was for important documents he would need on the trip, aswell as a large amount of cash should emergencies arise.
dummy batteries, very clever little touch
sadly no pics. he was a real nice guy, i’d love to know how his trip went, what a journey.
