So I’m running s/b on the M1 about 1 and half mile/2 mile from the M1/A42 junction and a Buffaload truck pulling a decker starts to overtake me and he’s going well and obviously quicker than me.
We reach the slight incline that goes up past the airport and his cab and about a quarter of his trailer is in front of me (I’m coming off for the 42) when he starts slowing down quite a bit, iv’e hardly any weight on so slow down to allow him to overtake. I slow down to about 42-45mph and he’s still struggling to get passed me.
At this point we reach the entry slip for the A42 so I put my left indicator on (he’s got his indicator on also) and flash him in as I’m moving over to the A42 slip road. He is roughly half way passed me and I’m just expecting him to move into lane 1 of the M1 that’s why he had is indicator on as he was obviously running heavy and wanted to get across I start to speed up but NOOOOOOO! This prick didn’t just want to get back into lane 1 of the M1, he was actually wanting to come off for the A42 and carries on coming across as I’m passing him forcing me half and half onto the h/s and slip road.
I pass him and he gives me the blast of the horns and no doubt a load of abuse and then he flashes his light as he gets onto the slip road behind me. I blast my horn when passing him and give him the finger.
First of all why would you even attempt to make that overtake when you are so close to the junction you are wanting to come off and you know you are running heavy and approaching an hill? Secondly I ain’t one of these dicks that keeps someone out when they’re overtaking and then speed up I ease off a couple of clicks same as if I’m overtaking someone and I’m about a quarter past their trailer and reach an incline and they are lighter than me they obviously go back in front and I pull in behind them, I don’t give them the nesscaffe shuffle and whatever.
I hope the ■■■■■■ is a member on here and reads this thread then I can just say to you sir you are a prick and as thick as a Gurkhas ■■■■■■■■.
Bog standard manoeuvre for today’s modern driver I’m afraid
If he’d been looking well forward he would have noticed that the A42 can still be accessed from lane one of M1.
Must be Buffaload drivers, had on all over my back end on a roundabout in Newcastle this afternoon and bullying his way past several vehicles on the A1. Might be the same driver lol.

Only a matter of time until he comes a cropper Steve, that type of clever ■■■■ never lasts long.
Love the fact that he was clearly in the wrong but still calls you a w… after giving way to him…tossers of the highest order.

This type of driver only looks half a wagon length ahead.
For a start, I wouldn’t have slowed down to let him complete his overtake manoeuvre. Not your fault he can’t work out that his loaded truck will struggle if not fail to get past you while climbing the hill in the first place. Made even worse that he attempted the overtake knowing he was wanting to come off at the next exit.

One of my bug bears is the guys who use the weight of their load to push them down the hill at 60 - 65 mph to overtake you, you flash them in and then they get to the incline and they slow down to 40 odd. You know exactly whats coming when we reach the top of the hill so you need to sit behind this clown to avoid a game of “■■■ for tat”.
McBurneys Volvo man on the M6 last Friday night, im talking to you

never have that problem mate
Just another typical steering wheel attendant that’s dragging this industry down I’m afraid. There was a time when these ■■■■■ wouldn’t get a look in but now companies are often scraping the barrel for ‘drivers’ these days to keep the wheels turning.
Wouldnt have slowed down, just another company running underpowered cr@p that ■■■■■ itself at the sight of a hill…yes me inc years ago running an F7 at 40T+…
If you feel that much about his driving give Ross Taylor or Julie Feltwell his bosses a ring, Ross owns the company and I know Julie won’t be impressed.

Trouble is a lot of companies have drivers that are salaried and a lot of jobs to a certain extent are job and knock so put the two together and sometimes you get a driver who doesn’t give a flying f… about anything or anyone accept himself getting home 10 minutes earlier .

Because some do…
Now take a deep breath, show your professionalism and carry on
Good Morning SteveBarnsleytrucker,
I have read your comments and this incident will be investigated accordingly by our Compliance department.
funny how quickly a moan turns into an incident…now with the standard stereotype mouthful of hot chips answer included.just wait till the newspapers and the rest of the media get a hold of it.id be shaking in my shoes if i was that buffalo driver…so who grassed him up to gruppenfuhrer buffalo then? .jesus
You lads let things get to you too much! I’ve forgotten about incidents during day 5 minutes after they happened, never let them get to me so much I take them home and choose to write a whole post about it! Yes the standard of driving these days is poor but just let it run like water off a ducks back and you’ll be happier

You’re right Luke, but I’m sure that as well as me you can hark back to the days (not that long ago either) when you expected, and broadly speaking got, a better standard of driving from a fellow truck driver, which was on another level in comparison to your average car driver going to or returning from work.
Is it too much to ask nowadays to expect somewhere near the same.
I know there have always been complete helmets driving trucks, but is it just me with the view that the numbers have vastly increased in the last 10 to 15 years.
I don’t reckon the o/p intended to get the guy in question, his boss involved, just hoped he would be on here as he had evidently severely ■■■■■■ him off, so he can’t really be accused of ‘grassing him up’ either, although I doubt he cares.
I know you get it all day every day on the road, and as you say we normally shake our heads and shrug it off with a few choice expletives, but there is always one that sticks in your mind and creates a straw/camel’s back situation.
If I knew for certain that someone who had ruined my half hour was a member on here likely to read it, I may well fall into same trap myself…be warned I know what you drive .
The truth of this is it is all handbags. Buffaloads driver could come on here and op a totally different description of what he thinks happened and we’d all be slagging stevebarnsleytrucker off without knowing any different. Like has been said everyone else is a sh*t driver so cool it for 5 minutes and then forget.
However if we all did that there would be nothing on here to express our so unbiased views about.

Well it certainly wasn’t me. I just come on here to have a bit of a rant and a good moan. I know everyone can make mistakes, I’ve made a few in my time it was mainly the other drivers attitude towards me when it was him who was in the wrong that wound me up but I certainly didn’t go crying to his employer over the event.
