Budget Car Tyres

I know this isn’t about trucks but my step son wants to put budget tyres on his BMW 330. He just brought a house and now broke and ive just emptied my bank account helping him so I carnt (wont) give him anymore. My question is are they any good or a load of crap and only last 5 minutes, he only does about 4000 miles a year

3 litre engine, rear wheel drive, cheap tyres…

Quality choice that…

You get what you pay for.
Cheap at the time is not always the best financial decision in the long run.

Runflats or normal?

Runflats, my son had a set of Firestone runflats on his Beemer, they stuck to the road really well, barely any more expensive than far eastern ditchfinders.

Normal tyres, you won’t go wrong with Uniroyal Rainsports, and don’t overlook Vredestain Sportracs, again not much more than the also rans.

Camskill or Tyreleader are my first ports of call when i’m looking for new boots.

Go to local part worn tyre place. Normally have decent brands for 25 a corner.

They normal Juddian, did wonder about part worn, matt but I put some on long while back and they went flat within a day

Can’t go wrong with uniroyal rainsports for a decent cheapy tyres but then even the cheapest tyres have to be of a certain quality if needs must.

Look on eBay ect for part worn quality tyres as opposed to brand new ■■■■ tyres

Why are they part worn? Because it’s the salvage parts of the other car that hit a tree, kerb, bridge etc.

I wouldn’t ever use second hand or cheap tyres,

Not every part worn have come from a smashed car…

My mate buys partworn tyres for his freelander. About half price of new. But don’t seem last that long. Me personally always buy new from Tyres on the drive . Or similar there reasonable priced and come to.you. Once came to work while I was away left keys with office staff . A cheap new tyre is better than a partworn one anyday

Been using cheap remoulds for about 5 years. They grip very well, but don’t last longer than 12 months , never had a failure or issue and I blast about at 100mph (on a private test track) regularly

he had the bm for about 3 years now, he just brought a house which only completed last week with the help of mum and dad bank. the car is just passed its mot which costed a bomb to put the heap through. But the front tyres are on the limit which needs changing and his now short of money as he still trying to kit his house out. I lent (gave) him over 10 grand to get him started and I not giving anymore so I told him he got to stand on his two feet now. That why he is trying to cut costs on getting cheap tyres. Think the car only going to last till next mot then he have to get rid

I put £50 cheapie tyres on my cars, never had a problem with them wearing excessively, going flat or losing traction. I don’t tend to drive like a loon though. I think with premium brand tyres you are paying quite a bit towards some Formula 1 driver’s luxury apartment and yacht in Monaco. :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s why I normally get Uniroyal Rainsports, but because of a nice offer at Costco I ended up paying £250 for 4x 215/40/18’s Goodyear Eagle F1’s.
