bt.com

I expect that you already knew (I didn’t) that if you want to move your broad band from BT to another supplier, they will charge you £60 pa for you to keep your ...@bt.com email address. Bit cheeky.

£60 per year, for that you could have your own domain name and e-mail hosting independent of any isp, i have done this for several years, ISP e-mail usually ■■■■■ like their own DNS servers do

I pay around £4 per year for a domain, and £12 for E-mail hosting

Get a Google address and keep it forever.

I have a xxxxxxxxxx hotmail.co.uk and costs me nowt ! so why pay for one ?

Does changing your email address also help keep down the junk / spam etc??

And also when your details are sold / passed on to ‘third parties’■■? :imp:

I send or receive no sensitive, damaging or illegal emails so I think the ‘privacy, trust’ thing is not applicable to me

Anyone remember wanadoo?

Anyone remember wanadoo?

That was a weird mix of Freeserve and Orange, best avoided then and the same now! Even Prestel was safer :open_mouth:

I know what Id be telling BT… Suckmyballs.com :grimacing:

and if you ever think of leaving BT they will attempt to charge you £30 disconnection fee.

Last year, fibre was enabled in my village, 255 properties, 95 of us couldn’t get it.

Moved to a symmetris.co.uk and BT attempted to charge me disconnection. In that move, someone at BT decided if I didn’t want their BB, I wouldn’t need my phone, attempted to charge me a disconnection for that, plus a reconnection when they realised they boobed.

2 months later I moved to VOIP for my phone and they tried to charge £126 “early termination of contract” a contract that I hadn’t asked to be terminated 2 months earlier.

Total they tried to get from me was just shy of £300, took them to OFCOM and they paid me £200.

never use the word cancel to a service provider, Bt Openreach do charge the provider for a cease of services and it is around £30 , This can rarely happen when migrating your BB from a provider who uses the BT platform for data back haul to one of the LLU providers who use their own network for exchanges , such as SKY and TT due the current provider raising a cease order , or the gaining provider not submitting the order correctly
