Look, for about an hour i was the only truck in Customs!!
i used to work for dr burt hes based in canvey island.iused to do greece for him.nice pic brings back a few memories.
The driver was telling me he did a fair bit of Greece, Cyprus and Crete. He was going down to Lugano in Swiss for the first time, He was also telling me they run on running money, no fuel cards or anything.
good pics thank!
wonder why you was stay there for 19 hrs ? long time! eh! sometime i have seen some turks or brits trucks stay at Dover Freight Customs Centre from 10 mins to 3 days ? what is going on ?
problem with paperwork ? i guess custom officers should make a quick job - like read check the paperwork and give a stamp on the paper then GO! could be under 30mins ?
any chance of pics - Turkish or Iranian trucks in other side parking of Dover Freight Centre, I 'm sure they will be happy offer you a some brew
also i have notice in Dover Freight Centre - two parking area - one place (front entrance area) were full of brits, swiss, western european trucks parking but other side - huge parking area - full of turkish & eastern bloc lorries parking ? why ?
Basically Betz, i was in Customs for 19 hours due to a ■■■■ up when loading in Carlisle on Saturday. I had been due to load on Friday, but due to wind and bad wather, didnt make it until Saturday Morning. Well Friday was in February, and Saturday was in March. Pirelli in Italy had to shut down their month end befroe they could raise the Invoices for my load. It caused a few problems to say the least.
On the flip side to that, when i came in on Friday, i was in and out in less than 10 minutes.
I only have one picture that is of reasonable quality of the Turks and here it is…
To be honest, there wasnt a great deal in Customs on Monday.
As for why the park round the back, Johnny answered this ell enough for me not to need to.
The turks have to go to the sealing shed to be sealed up,once been in the sealing shed you cant get back round to the front entrance. hence the uk/swiss/european trucks parked at the front entrance.but if you have t5 goods for swiss then your have to go via sealing shed.

Ok
The guy who drives this runs all over Europe in this.
Good pics there BB, particulaly this one.
What was the load? Household removals or something more specialised?
Seems an unusual set up,a 3 axled unit with a single axle trailor!
Hey Bullit
You’re right, this is indeed a strange set up isnt it.
I actually had a beer on Monday night with the driver in the Cinque Port with the driver and he was telling me all about it.
He works for a Scottish Company and only does 4 or 5 trips a year, but goes all over the place in it. They are a specialist lighting company and do mainly exhibitions/trade shows etc. This time he had just come back from Provence and although didnt need to clear customs, was just using it as a truck park. He has been down to Greece and Portugal in it so he tells me. The reason they use that style of outfit, is a lot of the places are tight and narrow, and they canot get an 18T in to them, but can get the little short trailer into them instead. Like the DC Burt driver, they dont have fuel cards etc and have running money instead. He was also telling me that it does attract a lot of attention in it, from the Gendarmes, Douane etc and didnt understand why. Me and an Eric Vick Driver are of the opinion its because it stands out like a sore thumb in Europe, its the sort of outfit you expect to see in a Supermarket, not Portugal!
