Well, here she is again and the caption on the Beattock photo says she’s on her way to Dundee,an Albion HD57L with a “BL” code.I did have a book with the BRS codes in but it’s disappeared, so she’s from the Scottish Lowlands somewhere, any offers?

Any idea what it’s load might have been? 15 ton more than likely? Dennis.

Dosen’t look to have much behind the back axle so if he’s got his full wack on it’ll be a bit heavy 'ont 'andle bars eh! but does it look fully loaded by the tyres? I know looks can be decieving! Dennis.

Tell yer what Dennis, jump in yer car and wait at side of M6 for trunkers,if tha sees that Albion, stop driver and ask him what he’s carrying.Make sure tha stops him facing downhill though… I notice front wheels are dry and back wheels still wet so appen he’s a bit over on the front, unless back brakes want tekking up?

We’'ll never know.

There’s been some cracking photos of BRS on here but this is still my favourite…

Albion 8-legger on Beattock, tha could climb out of t’cab and count t’wheelnuts when she were still plodding uppards, light a Park Drive, smoke it and then stub t’dog end out on t’mudguard and get back in t’cab afore she got t’summit tha knows.

Ask Dennis about t’owd days on Beattock…anon

Dennis would have still been playing conkers in the playground when that old girl was pictured Chris  .
Cheers Dave.

hiya,
There’s one thing Dave I wasn’t playing in the playground I’d most likely been further back driving something similar but with a trailer on the back and if I’d been coming from my home base nearly out of hours and ready to park up for the night my bed would have already been booked, it was OK for the trailer lad when climbing Beattock it took so long he could have a kip.
thanks harry long retired.

What a ■■■■ slur on all trailer mates “H” How dare you suggest that a mate did not stay “fully alert” and vigilant at all times sir!! However,I will own up to “resembling” your remark on a very few occaisions! Well OK times without number then!! Cheers Dennis.

hiya,
Take it Possy never needed to resort to having to brandish the knotted rope your good self being always ready with hands gripping the trailer brake i think most of my trailer “gadgies” spent most of their time gripping something else,I did come across a few plum tuckered little tykes in my time.
thanks harry long retired

A drawing taken of the photo forum, i thought was it was very good. And worth a showing on this thread.

Hello Chris, re your comment on the brakes, the Albion in common with the R8 Scammel had no brakes on the front axle but were fitted on the second steer, they were steady old plodders but used to break injecter pipes, the Jocks on Inter-City liked them…Tony.

Hi Chris, You are right about it being a cracking pic, and i am sure you are right about the BL for Dundee,i think the pic was taken at Beatock Summit, you can see the telegraph pole in the background which is on the railtrack. Its about the only place you were near the railtrack when climbing north. As for the West Lothian reg most BRS lorries in southern region were registered there. Cheers Ted.
