Harry I am impressed driving around your MRS like that , you definately exeeded your 12 spread though , hope she saw you alright .
I remember shap in the late 60s and recall some frightening stories in the Jungle about Lorries going over the edge and running out of brakes , in fact there were old wrecks still visable down some of the banks , but the first time I ran over the new Motorway and looked over I thought what bloomin heros there were in them days .Anybody any photos of the Jungle
Regards Frenchy

Cheers Dave.

Hi Frenchy if you look on The old ■■■■■■■■ Hauliers thread you will find some photos of the Jungle – All the Best Bewick.

At least when you was parked up at that cafe, you could breath easier, and enjoy your meal, I was stuck on the shap in the late 60’s with about a dozen other drivers in a snow storm, for about 36 hours, I did write about it, when I think of some of the dangerous places I have drove, I now think I must have needed my head tested :astonished: :astonished: :astonished: :astonished: :astonished:

Hello Dave , berwich ,Norm , Harry , Chris and a Happy Christmas to all Red and Rusties .
Thats a cracking painting there Dave , who do you think sat in the Lorry Park painting the Jungle in that weather , all the stories of cafe seem to be in the winter and Drivers having to stay put there because it was impossible to to go any further . My first trip , arround 68 to glasgow for Borden Chemicals had my knees knocking at the thought of this run because Id been spun some frightening stories about Shap , running up through Kendal was my Bro who was driving for Smiths of Madiston at the time and on his way back down south so we stopped for a brew before I carried onto my impending doom , I did stop for another brew and a bite at the Jungle but after promised myself I give all the Scotch runs away until the A74 was bypassed , coward that I was , I did cop one or two Scotch runs during BRS days but Bro and me worked together on BRS so I was able to pass the runs on to him and it wasnt till the late 70s on a run to Motherwell I ran that new bypass .

Hi sammyopisite,
Merry Christmas to you as well. Fair play your Missis looks in good fettle.
Cheers Dave.

Dave thats not his misses, he would never go away on a driving trip, leaveing a dolly bird like that, you know she is the type of bird, I would like at christmas, she is a real cracker. :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:      .

MERRY CHRISTMAS LADS.

hiya,
Norm you should know by now that for every georgous bird by your side there is an even more georgous one round the corner and an even more georgous one around the corner after that corner, and don’t i know it, one thing that has always mystified me is you always are told that the bride was looking beautiful and that is always the case, but the funny thing is why are there are so many ugly wives around??.

SOUTH POLE.
Dear Chris,
I am very happy to tell you that I received the letter that you posted up the chimney yesterday and to let you know that it arrived here all in one piece. Enclosed is a photo of the toy that you wanted and I am sure like you say that the smile on the boys little faces when they see this on Christmas morning will bring such joy and happiness to them that I hope that they will contain themselves as we don’t any little puddles on the bedroom carpet do we.
As you forgot to mention which depot that you would like me to deliver the new vehicle to I decided to send one to the North East Depot, one to the Northampton Depot and one to the Southampton Depot.
I know that Harry and Norman would of prefered a pair of Bristols like all lorry drivers do but you can’t leave Charlie out at this time of the year because that’s what Christmas is all about. Anyway Charlie would only feel like Mae Wests youngest triplet and I am sure that he wouldn’t want to miss out on such a big thing.
I must apologise Chris as I have not got the specifications quite right, they will certainly be in red but I am afraid that you will have to wait six months for the rust although with the weather that you have there at the moment you may only have to wait for three months.
Well Master Webb, thats all that I have for the moment but as you know that if you are really good like you have been this year then who knows what you might receive next year.
I wish you all the best for the future Chris and please give my best wishes to all the boys on the thread and wish them all a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

P.S. Chris I have sent you a short video, I think it might be about a Sheffield Rabbit from that cave, I am not sure so you will have to watch it.

P.P.S. Please note our new address at the top of the page, due to Global Warming and rising costs we have had to move.

Merry Christmas to all on the Red and Rust thread.
Cheers Dave.

I THINK that the wallabies have died out now Chris, there used to be some on Stanton Moor near Matlock but they disappeared a few years ago.

Pete.

Aye Pete, them buggers from Winster will have eaten 'em

hiya,
Chris there was talk of wallaby’s living wild on Cannock Chase some years ago, was it true?? there was supposedly lots of confirmed sightings in the 60s and 70s, i was prone to witnessing pink elephants during those times but can’t recall meeting up with a mini kangaroo although i got so drunk in those days if i’d danced with one i would’nt have known.

Merry christmas lads, it has been a pleasure and a honour to be in contact with such a bunch of lovable rogue’s, even old steve down under, he tells us he has moved because of global warming, my guess is the boys in blue are on to his tricks :unamused: :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:     , sorry steve, thanks for the presents, but best for harry to have the bristols, he has had three pair in his life already    , so he has got some more, I am a bit taken with the tanker all in blue. It is my wish that all of us are around next year, and many more to come. Happy new year to all from Sandman Norman.

hiya,
And a Merry Christmas to you Norm and Friends, and by the way Norm that should read in excess of three dozen pairs of Bristols i did put myself about a bit, and if her 'indoors reads this i’m talking lorries but if you former and current Knights of the Road read this “you know what i mean Arry” “go on Henry splash it all over”.
thanks harry long retired.

Harry, I can read you like a book, it might be a little dirty, but I knew you would be a expert in the Bristol types, myself I made quiet a few boobies in my time, but some of them were great big ones, and amen to that :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

hiya,
Once went out with a young lady whose Bristols were on her back, believe me Norm she was’nt much to look at but great fun to dance with.
thanks harry long retired.

Hi Harry,
That lady with Bristols on her back, sounds a bit like a chinese six.
Cheers Dave.
