I see you are back Harry, hope you had a good holiday. I think your old sparring partner will be glad to have you back to joust with.
Cheers Dave.
Harry, get some shillings out of your pocket, and put some in your meter and get your laptop going, chris, keith, and dave, and myself, are missing your quirky comments. Sandman Norman
Norman, look’s as if you are going to have to get some stronger bait on your hook to fish him out.
Cheers Dave.
hiya,
well chaps thanks for thinking about me while iv’e been away, and the wonderful ideas for my next holiday destination, Blaydon, brilliant on race days, South Shields wonderful fish and chips, Gateshead what could be nicer than a pincic at the foot of the Angel but you missed Whitley Bay with Spanish City the Costa of the North, have returned home today under the weather had to get an appointment with my GP luckily i got in straight away and have got some medication which should help over the next day or two, oh did get to York Railway Museum must be turning into an anorak in my old age love it in there though must be a saddo tell you what there’s been some cracking red and rust pics gone on here while iv’e been AWOL, it’s enough to dig out the driving gloves seeing all those motors believe it or not iv’e driven most of the models at one time or another, enough for now.
thanks harry long retired.
Harry, the old red & rust, was not the same with out you, all them lorries that came up, chris & keith were having a debate if the rope and sheeting was up to your standard, hope your health improves after seeing the doc. Sandman Norman
Eyup Harry, aye we’ve missed you.Sorry you aren’t too well but I’ll start you on a nice steady job, just to get you weaned back on so to speak. No hand ball,a nice long trailer and a decent AEC MK5 Mandator.Just tip it at Wick and come home empty.
Or you can do two loads of limestone from Buxton to Sheffield with this.
It’s up to you pal.
Hi boys
Welcome back Harry we have missed you,I’m glad you liked the rail museum I went there a few years ago I bet it brought memories back of moving some of those big beasts
You take it easy mate and get better soon and don’t let Norm wind you up to much
Regards Keith.
hiya,
DD old norm couldn’t wind me up i’m a match for him any day, feeling a bit better all ready the medication has started to kick in, could have done without the drive home today, not a million miles but it felt like it, my good lady is a decent driver but she’s never pulled a trailer so i told her i was a lot better just so she wouldn’t try to stop driving home the trouble is when you’ve had a dollop of chemo it must affect your immune system and you seem to catch everything going, maybe a good nights sleep is all i need, thanks for concern mate, the doc told me to stay away from crowds at the moment, just have to keep turning the georgeous ladies away until i’m better.
thanks harry long retired.
Harry, would I wind you up when your not well, never, but Ib still think you slept on top of that cab? Sandman Norman
hiya,
no Norm that wasn’t my sleeper cab not quite that old, nearly all wagons had racks on the roof donkey’s years ago but i have carried boxes of kippers from Arbroath for a pal of mine and i wasn’t prepared to put them in the cab which was normally full of rubbish anyway, so the roof rack was the obvious place to transport them, oh and that was a bit of fiddle Norm don’t know how i slept, and all that risk for a couple of pints,oh how i hated robbing the old red and rust.
thanks harry long retired.
hiya,
Chris have delivered the loaded mandator (proper motor)just ringing in empty, gor owt back.
thanks harry long retired.

Nowt up here Harry,go home empty, have an early 'un.
Same run tomorrow, drop T 430 and take T 437 and check the ropes are ok as the shunter has been in a bad mood, muttering summat about “all drivers being b*******”.
hiya,
Chris just wondering how that shunter knew i was a B++++++ bet he was one of my trailer boys from my past and has been belted with the rope (knotted) i kept to hand for when they fell asleep or got cheeky, and if it’s not roped properly he’ll get the rope again.
thanks harry long retired.
Whatch it lads, no swearing, Harry how could you be so cruel to hit your lorry boys with knotted rope, Humm, will you ever enter the pearly gates ■■. Sandman Norman
hiya,
through the pearly gates Norm, only if i can reverse through in an old octopus and trailer so i’m pointing in the right direction for a quick escape if i don’t like it.
thanks harry long retired.

This is not strictly BRS but talking of “pearly gates” Harry how’s this for a “pearly tunnel”.You’ll know where this was taken if you worked for N W BRS.Two Jarvis Robinson Leylands flying out of the Mersey Tunnel with ship’s propellers You could back them all the way to Birkenhead with your experience.
Notice the sign that says keep 75 ft apart,or is it 25?
Reminds me of a mate of mine who said:-
“I was a shift worker in a helicopter factory but went on days regular 'cos they took me off the rota”.
OK,I’m on me way.
hiya,
not all that clever Chris would need a couple of straighteny up shunts for that distance, that pic goes back a long time, the 40s?? been through the “pipe” many a time but never wide and always forwards, could have managed the outfit with the prop on though, oh happy days.
thanks harry long retired.
Why Oh Why are you lorry drivers looking and talking about “SCREWS”, I wonder if harry is up to it Chris, you must not get him to excited, and by god, have not things got Interesting since he put finger to key after his ten days in clink, sorry harry I ment holiday home Ha Ha Ha, no mate I have never been a bar steward. Sandman Norman
These threads that you and Harry are the mainstays of Norman, have certainly got busier and livelier in the last couple of days. I would think they have more viewers than the soaps on TV. Keep it going chaps,it all makes a bit of entertainment, you will have to ask the moderators for a fee.
Cheers Dave.
hiya,
Dave, old Norm doesn’t need the money, he’s got no place to store it anyway, and being the gentleman that he is he would most likely tell them to post it to me cos he knows i’m a needy case, but i aint holding my breath, but looking on the bright side Chris keeps finding me a bit of shunting work to keep the wolf from the door and i’m happy with that, daren’t tell him my licence has run out though.
thanks harry long retired.
