Bringing disrepute to the industry

I was driving down the M6 yesterday when a grey 09plate MAN overtook me I flashed him in and got no reply, he then slowed down to about 50MPH, so I pulled out to overtake him. as i got alongside I noticed that he had his right foot up on the dash, and was rolling a cigarette.
These are the sort of people that I dont want in the driving industry.
I am going to start taking numbers of people like this and publish on trucknet, lets get them out I say, our name is bad enough already.

AND your the perfect driver i guess, most have bad habits and silly ways, you take the single crusade on, worry about yourself not others

To globby 480… No I,m far from perfect but i,m not bloody stupid, these machines are a potential killing machine in the wrong hands, and they wernt meant to be driven with your foot on the dash.
My views will only upset the people who they are meant for.

Your spot on with your comments Rocky and I think most on here will agree with you, I have just been finished through ill health and I miss my job but the one thing I don’t miss are the Idiots you describe. Were all supposed to be proffessional drivers, The problem today is lorries are too easy to drive with their auto boxes and cruise control etc Makes the job boring, and people idle. I maybe old fashioned but I’d sooner have the older lorries where you had to work at keeping it going.

But is this anything to do with “Old Time Lorries, Companies and Drivers”■■

to 240 gardner. the operative word here is"Old time" and "Drivers " of which at 67 I am both.
Like I said I am far from perfect, but after 40 odd years as a class one driver with no major incidents I think i have the right to my opinion on some of the bad driving I witness these days.

We are not allowed to publish registrations for this purpose on this site - a members poll was taken on this issue not so long ago.

With the modern comfy trucks this sort of thing does seem to be more prevalent - would an old time driver have done this sort of thing when trucks needed the driver to be more ‘hands-on’ ?
I didn’t see any driver in the film Hell drivers with feet on dash whilst driving

Yeah mate your fully entitled to your opinion, but this is a forum to discus companys or drivers that we used to know.
We all know that there are blokes out the that can’t drive so well, but this is not the place to discus it.
Starting a list of bad drivers will take you a while mate, why not move on and concentrate on the good old days.

Thanks Jamie - my point precisely.

TRUCKNET, For Drivers By drivers.
If I cant air my views on here where can I air them, Like I say this will only touch a nerve to people who it is pointed at.

Rocky, you will find several similar threads (and to which I have contributed myself on one occasion) on “The UK Professional Drivers Forum (Interactive)” at the top of the list on the board index. You’re not alone in airing these views!

Hi Rocky.
Of cause you can air your veiws ( and most people on here would agree with you ) but the point being made is that this is not the right forum to do it. Maybe you should have used the Professonal Drivers Forum instead. I tend not to use that forum very much because it seems to be full of people moaning about this and that, and complaning about how bad the job is these days. We all see instances of bad driving every day but i tend to just let it wash over me nowdays.
If i got upset or stressed out every time someone cut me up or did something silly, id have had a heart attack by now, and the jobs just not worth it mate.
Rgds Mark.

Why are you all having a go at the bloke for posting it on here, if you look further back there is a post about asylum seekers on Old Time Lorries, Companies and Drivers, what the hells that got to do with old time haulage companies and drivers, but nobody had a go at the bloke who posted that.

As ROG said a poll was taken and most members who voted were against using this forum for publishing reg numbers to identify bad drivers, most of us felt it unfair to publish registration numbers when the people who were being slagged off had no way of putting their point of view unless they happened to be members here and saw the post.

I agree with your first post though, how can these people be in proper control of the vehicle

With respect, no-one is “having a go” at Rocky - merely suggesting that there is a more appropriate place for his thread, and where it would undoubtedly be viewed by a wider audience. I would agree that any discussion about asylum has no place here either.

I’ll take back the having a go comment. But nobody made any suggestions the the Assylum post should be put elsewhere, so vwhy this one

Speaking for myself, I hadn’t noticed it!

spose i shouldnt post this and im an idiot for putting my foot up on the dash :unamused:

Getting back to the olden days. I once made an egg buttie going down the M8. I was doing ok, I’d made the tea, then I needed the egg out of the frying pan, but the pan kept moveing.

To Mark R, with all respect Mark, if we let all idiotic occurences go over our heads we would be in a mess.
Apart from driving I know people who do not secure loads properly because its time consuming,or they hav,nt got enough straps and cant wait for some to be brought to them. This is as bad as bad driving.
