Oh dear
If you pay peanuts, and employ cabbages, you get this. Those two bridges are marked not only for height in advance (several times on both approaches), but there are black HGV alternative routes signed too…
utter, utter muppet.
This afternoon at high bonnybridge or not so high bonnybridge as the case may be!
I know Norberts or whatever the ■■■■ they are called run B&Q but I think this is home delivery which is wincanton.

It looks like that bridge is only 10ft 3 ins high so the driver was not going to have a chance was he/she.

You can do it when you B&Q it!

Well he’s certainly ‘done it.’

Why is it always the driver who always gets it,transport managers , local councils , driver agency,s and, company,s all have responsibilities to ensure our safety . Just a simple few safety checks could avoid bridge strikes.![]()
In this day and age there must be a few simple safety devices out there to stop this happening…sensor,s lights ,signs, bridge marked on the road .yet it,s been happening for years with no real progress.

Why don,t councils put up led sign,s that flash bridge …this would be a start.
We have Break Pedal fitted on our Lorries. I can post you a Link of our Recruitment Office if you want
had one the other day going to xpo (norberts) near darlington my expensive truckers tom tom suggested a route got within 200 yards and was faced with a 13.6 bridge hmmm i dont think that my 13.9 trailer is going to go under that. parked up checked the hight setting on tom tom yep plus 13.6. rang up and asked for the profered route which was about 2 miles up the road and back so no great problem there its a good job i learnt a long time ago not to TRUST sat nav and just use it as a referance tool i also carry a paper map as the batteries dont wear out
mark one eyeball and a bit of commonsence goes a long way in this job

Odd - My expensive TomTom won’t give me a route to that site - “No truck route could be found. This is due to restrictions near your destination or departure area. Do you want to ignore those restrictions?” Of course, if I tap “Yes” it will then route me under that bridge…

A Christmas special for Moomooland that wasn’t in the papers AFAIK:Muckamore A26, NI. goo.gl/maps/z2iId
It’s one I personally did 2 years ago.
I offer no defence other than I had (and have since) gone under that particular bridge many times before with a similar outfit running the same height of 13’ 6" and that bridge is marked up 14’ 3". Tightest on the northside with the road dropping to the south (you can see the previous scuff marks on the plating on the underside of the arch). Yes TruckNet CSI, I wasn’t between the goalposts.
Merry Christmas everyone.
Now he will Fit. Its just to get it right the First Time

It’s driver inattention,period.I constantly come across lower-than-me bridge signs,and I constantly divert.
What’s the problem? DRIVERS!!!
Revoke these bridge-striker licences.
This^^^^^^^^^
Why is it that a ruddy so called driver cannot see that the vehicle he/she is driving
Will not fit under a bridge. Pathetic drivers, that’s all.
spot on 206doorman
Completely gormless!

Those chains before bridge on 619(is that right)between Worksop and m1 always struck me as a cheap ,easy way to warn you that your over height.
Agreed (ignoring the obvious point that a driver should be aware of his vehicles height) this seems a simple solution yet I’m struggling to think of another location where this simple preventative measure has been put in place…

They have them on Blackwall tunnel northbound approach when I was last down in London, which admittedly was many years ago now.
I think grantham have the right idea , for years we’ve been blighted by in competent drivers hitting bridges every day ( barrowby rd , harlaxton rd , Springfield rd ) there now building a ring road to alieviiate the problem , it may seem extreme , expensive but everything else has been tried and still the bridge strikes continue
