What a tool , you can tell a mile away that ain’t going under , even after getting out to look at the bridge he still attempted to get under it , for gods sake

Yeah but the tool filming him and egging him to go for it wasn’t exactly helpful. You can imagine the pressure with all the traffic behind you and already feeling like a prize twit then you’ve got someone shouting saying yeah go on it will fit. Could of caused absolute chaos for encouraging something he though was funny

That’s the trouble with people today mate, if you find yourself in a fix, or trying to back into an awkward place, there is always the chance that some prick is pointing his mobile at you rather than give you some assistance, or simply just ■■■■ off :imp: …that one was a prick of epic proportions btw. :unamused:

I was in a village in Devon one day,.on my way to Cremyll boat yard near Plymouth.
I got round the tight as arse holes right hand bend in the village en route to the drop, but for some reason struggled when it became a left hand bend on the way back. :unamused:
Many came out of their houses to either just watch their properties did not get damaged, or even try and guide me round.
One character was videoing me, and I suggested that if he did not want his phone protruding from his arse,.that he should move somewhere I couldn’t see him…I did get round eventually btw.

Ha small world Rob, I live literally 10 mins from Cremyll and I know exactly where you mean. The lovely village of Millbrook and that corner is an absolute pig!! Even worse if you meet the bus anywhere near that village as one of you has to go back.
Oh by the way it’s in Cornwall not Devon but I’ll let you off

Think this is the corner you mean

Is it?..sorry about that.
Yeh, Milbrook that was it, but tbh looking at that pic it doesn’t look too bad as it did on that day, but my trailer o/s front corner was just missing the guy’s bedroom window.
Maybe just me being a drama queen.

I remember on my way in being stopped by a oncoming car, the driver asked ‘‘Are you sure you will.get around that bend’’, which didn’t fill me with confidence.

This is the bridge google.com/maps/@53.546373, … 384!8i8192
and this is the signage on the entrance…or lack of google.com/maps/@53.5477237 … 384!8i8192
There are signs on the approach a couple of hundred yards either side that are very easy to miss, there is also a possibility that a driver could come down Gidlow lane on his way to the Ind estate, and he would not drive past any signs until he got to the bridge. This bridge gets hit an unbelievable amount of times its on social media at least once a month, it was number 13 in the network rails most bashed bridges of 2019 to 2020 with 10 strikes, and god knows how many that didnt get reported.

Yet they do absolutely nothing about the inadequate signage! So the question is who’s making money from the bridge strikes? Someone must because otherwise they would do something about it!

It’s no good putting a sign 200m from bridge leaving us with nowhere to turn round is it… Never mind having roads leading to the bridge that don’t have any warning at all!

It’s a 9’6"!!! How can you hit that? It must be at driver’s eye level. [emoji1787]

They do walk amongst us. But it still needs signage at the junction of Prescott St and Frog Lane, this would stop SOME of the idiots from turning into Prescott St, but not all of them

Looking at that pic, there is a road to turn around on both directions of approach before the bridge.
It sticks out like a sore thumb in front of you, so no excuse for hitting it.
Signs or not you can’t legislate for stupidity, incompetence.and ineptitude. :bulb:
Some people should just not be allowed to hold licences for large vehicles end of.,.whether or not they have managed to blag a course/test. :unamused:

The local authority is responsible for the signage not Network Rail.

I don’t think that generally anyone makes money out of bridge strikes with the possible exception of the contractors who assess and repair any damage. I think that the problem of inadequate or obscured signage is more a consequence of the general apathy displayed by any large organisation tasked with these jobs, it’s always “not my job” or “we’ll get around to it”.

Wrecker drivers need steady income, breakdowns alone don’t always keep the wolf from the door.

i had a driver hit a car park barrier at eye level , in northampton , and he lived in northampton , and it was a retail park , and it wrote the cab off , and very nearly wrote him off.

No, I think he deserved the abuse for getting out to look, after seeing the height sign actually on the bridge. (By all means get out to look & see where to turn around if needed)

Cut him some slack, at least he actually noticed the bridge and stopped, unlike some of the morons just crashing through them whilst in their own little world.
